Foot Bed Questions

Hey guys,

I have 29.5 Wallisch's and my heel comes up a little bit when I lean way forward. I bought them a little big, incase my feet grew I could use them longer. I was wondering if I am not tightening them enough, or if I need a foot bed.

Where would I get a foot bed, and what will it do for me? what are the advantages, and how much will a custom one cost? Is it an important thing to get?

Thanks.

Footbeds will always be a good idea. Most good bootfitting shops should sell some form. There are two main types, pre molded trim to fits and customs.

The Customs are the only ones worth buying. They do cost a bit about $150-200 but they will inprove the fit of any boot.

They may well help with your heel lift. If your foot pronates then your instep will drop, meaning the top of your foot is not held down as well so your heel can lift. It may also be that the back of your Achiles is not straight so the boot cant hold your leg correctly.

They will though make your foot smaller so if your boots are too big, best bet may be to sell them and start again with the money you get for them.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Like tom said above, having your foot properly stabilized is important, but if you bought your boots too big you are just Fucked. You need to sell them, start over by getting a properly fitting shell from a fitter, then add custom foot beds

How big is to big? Last season I had 27.5 and they were 100% to small. 28.5 are snug, and fit a little better, and my 29.5's don't feel to big besides when my heel moves up when I lean really far forward.

what size did the boot fitter size you up as?

By the sound of it the 28.5 would have been alot better. Dont forget that boots get between a half to a full size bigger when they pack in.

Genrally the boots should feel a bit too small in the shop. Dont forget you can make boots bigger but you cant make them smaller.

Your best bet is take them into a good bootfitting shop. Have one of the fitters look at the fit f your current boots, if he thinks there ok then see what he recomends doing. If they are too big, sell them and buy what the fitter recomends.

Last point, I saw Onenerdy write this earlier in another thread and I thought it was spot on. If when you are buying boots, if the fitter does not recommend custom footbeds then you are not seeing a boot fitter.
