when filming skiing how do u deal with focus? is there a way that u can film like a gopro or a iphone where everything is always in focus?
 
Most people use a pretty wide lens for follows IE i use a tokina 11-16, my fstop is usually between 8-11 for ideal sharpness and my focus is set almost to infinity. The trick is not to get too close, because then your subject will be out of focus, ideally keep your subject 5+ ft away and everything will stay in focus.
 
I use manual lenses and do my best to stay the right distance form the skier for follows. I also film from a fixed position or a tripod often.
