Flunking out of college

Honestly, it's probably one of the best things that's happened to me. I went out and got a graveyard shift job, worked it for three months, realized I hated my life, and got back into school motivated to finish up and redeem myself. It really opened my eyes as to what I might end up doing if I didn't get my shit together. Yes, I wasted time and money, but in the end I think that the lessons I learned from it made up for that. Now I'm close to graduating and while I still hate school, I can handle that because when I'm done I'll be doing something I like and not being stuck in some dead end job.

i just did the exact same thing. it really got me motivated to get back into school. flunking out was an embarrassment for a bit but nobody really cares and are still chill around you (except my parents) haha. i'm taking cc classes for two quarters before i go back to a major university

yea im hoping to go to CU and graduate in 4 years in aerospace engineering... we'll see how that turns out...

buddy of mine just flunked out of st. thomas, and he has a big coverup story like he wanted to leave. now he's addicted to oxy's and spend his days getting high off his rents money.

and the other day i had one of those moments when you look at someone, look away, and then instantly look back cause it took you a second to realize what you saw.. ya one of those moments. anyways i saw this girl i knew that used to be a super hot cheerleader last year; i recently learned she dropped out and holy shit she got fat! thats my story. my name is not hansel, its matt.

spidey has been brainwashed to believe if u drop out of college you will become a drug addict wat a fucking loser

Yeah well I failed a class first quarter (I go to RIT they do trimesters not semesters) and I was put on acedemic probation and I might fail another class this quarter and I'm so scared that I'm gonna be suspended. I just got a job on campus and am stoked for next quarter so this is gonna be so shitty if I fail....I'm so fucking lazy I don't know what to do to change that

actually flash,

i was merely giving an example that i knew of, related to the topic. one example. please note this wont happen to everyone, sorry for not clarifying that. fucking loser.

its fun until your actually kicked out of college.

then you realize that your still at the same level as you were when you were 16, you owe $100,000 and you cant get a job.

Im about to feel this, but its even a bigger slap in the face cause i passed the classes i just need higher grades in like 4 classes to get my gpa up to get into the upper division of my undergrad business school.

I'm pretty excited to be on a 7 year program. If you have any sort of science based major, doing it in four years is a terrible time. Spreading out your BS and taking advantage of a combined BS/MS is the way to go.

not so bad, made me sit down and think everything over, again

i flunked two years ago, now i'm getting a 3.71 going into a program i actually care about instead of just "having something to do"

well. consider how much your college costs. consider paying for it. that's what it's like. i did it a lot when i was younger, but i mean i was naive, didn't give a shit, and school only cost 150$ every 4 months. now that i "pay" college. i owe about 20 grand, and i've had to do an extra year because i dropped classes, so i could've easily saved 5000$. i assume american college is expensive, so...since your parents are probably paying it, be nice.

Yo man you go to RIT? im a second year here, i know what you mean RIT changes you i almost failed out in the fall, just find a major you like an stick with it. You dont happen to drive the white sti with the ns sticker i always see parked outside of building 7 do you?

Don't flunk!But... Alot of you are talking about the money you lose, owe or whatever..In Denmark you don't care about how much money it costs! Because you actually get around 873 dollars (4800 dkr) each month from when you are 20 years while educating. It is not that much when you are 18 and 19, but depends on your parents income and so on.. I get 345 dollars (1900 dkr) each month and I'm 19 on my last year in the gymnasium. Guess it's simmilar to high school or what ever kind of school you are going to when being 19.Just wanted you to know it doesn't cost anything in Denmark to go to school, but you get paid! Wahaa :-D

Na that's not me, there's a couple other skiers at RIT though. And for everyone talking about money, my mom works at the college I go to so I go for free...

Problem is those who are graduating are not in those jobs they even went to school for. And say they are employed, they are underpaid and overworked.
So yeah.

im trying to finish a env science major with a gis minor in 4 years...with 2 semesters of only 12 credits because of knee surgeries, one being right now where i got slammed with 3 testsand an essay the week after my surgery and am feeling like catching up is going to suck... ill have to take a full summer semester just to graduate on time.

go to a state school or something. i went out of state my first semester, holy fuck that was a bad idea. they expected me to know so much shit that i never learned in highschool, now i transfered to a state school and i'm good to go i have straight A's in all classes

sorry to burst your bubble but you'd have to be a genius.
I know a couple engineers there and there all on the 5 year plan.

Prepare for your soul to die. In my second semester of Mech. E. It sucks, but its good. Oh and fuck all the haters, Im on the 4 year major/minor plan and I party... a lot!

haha. You are also in your second semester. I was on a four year program until my fourth semester of mechanical engineering. The first year is easy as hell and then you begin to get destroyed with school work fall of your second year. It is possible to do it all in four years and still have a great time. Partying is not the issue however. Anyone can do school work from 8 AM until 10 PM and then get drunk and do it over again every day. It comes down to how often you want to ski. Three days a week was not cutting it for me, hence I decided to take a lighter courseload in the spring. I was also blessed with awesome parents who support me and what I'm doing and am currently living the life here in Utah. Why would I be in a hurry to graduate and try to find a job in a terrible economy when I can stay in school for my masters and try to pick up an MBA as well. You probably shouldn't count your chckens before they hatch. I know so many people who decided they couldn't handle engineering after three or four semesters.

This.

In fifth year, need to take 6th year next year.

I highly recommend working 20 hours a week and taking 3 courses a semester and one or two in the summer.

this is what i concluded after being gone from school for 2 years as well. now i'm motivated and getting solid a's across the board with a 100% in a mid-term. the school kicking me out for bad marks was the best thing that it ever did for me. i packed more life into those 2 years then what some people do in a lifetime.

Seriously.

I always scoffed at adderall but after trying it once I never doubted it again.

It makes you get so much shit done once you start working on something

haha shit dude same here.. im a smart guy and i have potential but my biggest challenge is getting off my lazy ass and doing hw for my shitty classes!!!

It's not impossible. Just don't go abroad and don't have a job (yep, this will add to your debt but you'll likely get done a year sooner lowering your costs). Go into college, work hard at something you love, and you'll be out in 4 years. Warning - you may have to take 18+ hrs each semester depending on the route you choose to finish in 4 years.

Yeah it aint too bad. I traveled the world, went skiing a lot, shared beds with many beautiful women, held a variety of interesting jobs in a couple different cities, got quite good at guitar, read a lot of books and meditated among other things.

Now I have a kickass office job reviewing airsoft guns (which I'm actually posting from right now) and with my couple years of experience in marketing/writing I'm 1000x more useful in the industry than any random college kid. The year or so of college I did bother with got me an internship though, then i used the internship to get a job, then that job to get another job, etc. But yeah, college is a waste of time. I wish I had just not gone, could have been set up with my own job and apartment at 18 instead of having to wait till I was 22. Plus other than 1 photography class and 1 journalism class i legitimately didn't learn shit the entire time I spent there. And honestly even the journalism class only taught me things I could have learned by reading the Associated Press Style Guide.
