Flip Video Camera?

Im considering buying a Flip video camera.

I've heard positive and negative responses from a few people i've talked to.

But I'm Curious what anyone on N.S. has to say about that camerPr

You say it's better than the flip, but flips suck. Is this Kodak ZX1 a good camera to buy if you want something cheap?

Well, I have a nice camera but my brother likes to ski around all day with his flip in his coat, just incase somebodys trying something sick he can film. Its actually real convenient

True, but one downside is that it is not weather/water resistant. I've used the Zx1 mounted to a kayak and it got splashed with water multiple times and it still works perfect.

I don't really see the point to buying cameras like that for skiing when you could spend a little bit more for a gopro hd which is waterproof, awesome quality, and if you just want to have something in your pocket to film occasional tricks with you can take it out of the casing and it is tiny. Mow some lawns, shovel some driveways and get a gopro.

My mom has a flip. The quality isn't amazing, but for 150 you can't complain.
BUT i would suggest saving a little and getting a go-pro.

iv got a flip HD, its super convienient that you can just pull it out whenever, and the battery set-up is far superior to the alkalines or recharchables you need for the go-pro. and its definitley in 720p HD.im having a little trouble editing the footage though, but i'm a noob at movie maker, so it's probably my fault.

yeah the GoPro HD is amazing, save up for it and you get superior quality video, waterproofness, awesome fisheye that the flip doesnt have, and still pictures too. The GoPro is amazing

when it comes to videographyits all about investing in something good because if not you'll end up upgrading if you keep it as a hobby (especially lenses)i wish i saved all my christmas money for years just to get an HVX or PMW ( i got an hv30 which you can find relativley* damn cheap $600 but its still a real camera where you can learn)
ofcourse if your looking for some quick flick for the season to show to your family (lame/waste of money)get a flip or whatever
thats my opinion at least

by relativley* i mean compared to other cameras in the HD category with the ability to change atleast a FEW settings (shutter/MF/etc)

I love my flip its good for what it is, you should be more spesific for your uses, some people may say it sucks but it depends what its being used on, its super easy to use no hook ups for stuff to lose or brake, software is simple and works well, the camera itself its preaty nice, shoots in hd and has a good microphone pic up.

i got a flip ultra hd and i love to see the quality check out new years eve edit in my videos i recorded it with a flip

i just got a flip and messed around on it a bit but the editing program seems sorta rough. is there a way to put the shots you get on to imovie or something? you can just drag the clips in or anything
