You are getting the exact same binding . Built off the same engineering specifications and with same materials, with parent ownership of look/ Rossi . There's a very good chance they are constructed in the same manufacturing plant . Our luck on the consumer end is it gives you the choice of 2 colors in the same model year .
Yeah I remember thinking the 18s didn't have an upward release, but I checked the Rossi site and they do. I definitely remember threads many years ago with us talking about the 18 toe piece being different, I guess we were just wrong back then.
Some people think that because there are test videos showing the limited upward release movement of the 18s. They show that the boot will stay in/doesnt have enough room to flip out of the bining. What they forget is that the heel pieces have forward pressure and can move back a bit so that the boot can flip out of the toe pieces.
Not sure if trolling? The 18 toe piece is completely different to the 14's one. The 14 uses a split wing design, the 18 has a single-piece toe mounted on a lobed pylon with proper 180 degree release.
