my advice is to not grind the screws but rather go to your local shop and they will give you some short ones. mounting screws are tapered at the end for a reason and if you cut that off they dont perform how there sopposed to.

Grinding them flat is bad, its just strips the holes out. Grinding a taper into them is key, its a pain in the ass. As long as the holes were taped properly, its all good to go

haha true dat but by the time your all done grinding in the taper you may as well have just gone to your shop and ask for 12 new screws
