FKS Forward Pressure Tab Problem

hey all,

my friend recently bought some used skis off here and I was adjusting them to fit his boots. setting forward pressure on the first ski went smoothly, but when I got to the second ski I noticed the turntable on the heel would pop over and end up on top of the white tab. here's a video of it:

I've worked with multiple sets of FKS for my own skis over the past few years, setting forward pressure, bending brakes out, etc. so I'm not going in blind here and feel confident working with these bindings.

has anyone encountered this and figured out how to fix it? I took off the heel piece and took it apart to see if there was something else wrong with it, but couldn't find anything out of place. the guy he got it from said he took it to a shop and they said the binding was fine, but I'd like to get a second opinion here.

Hmmm... Considering you have diligently went about trying to solve this problem, my only idea is that there is something in between the black plastic base plate and the white tab that is inhibiting the tab's movement. Maybe some scrap that has chipped off from some part of the inside of the brake system? I have 5 pairs of piv./fks bindings and have never came across any issues at all, which is why I only use these binders.

Good luck.

Is that black plastic semicircle the tab slides under fully attached to the metal part of the baseplate? it looks loose. I have a heel piece where that part pops off (that heel piece is from like 1998 though)

that looks to be the case. if I push the black plastic part down, I can get it to slide properly along the white tab without popping out over it, but the moment I put a boot in it pops back over it. the black piece does seem to wiggle up and down too. do you know how to fix this or if it affects how the binding functions?

So yeah thats the same problem my old pair has. One day when I stepped in the piece just popped off. I epoxied it back in and it stayed for a little while before coming back out (probably didn't grip to the metal well in the cold). I think these are your options:

A. Epoxy it back on, repair whenever it comes out (not really ideal if these are your main bindings, mine are on my summer skis)

B. Take it to a shop, see if they can get you a new one.

C. Take it off, adjust binding to work without it. (again not ideal unless you have a way to test release)

The bindings will sort of work if you take the piece off but you have to crank down the forward pressure, not really something you want to ride on a lot

alright, I'll play around with it and see if I can get it to work. if not, it's to the shop. thank you for the help! appreciate it man.
