FKS Are Back!

It says nowhere on that site that they aren't available for purchase. I would be willing to bet that any shop that sells Look/Rossi could order a set of baseplates.

well i'll be damned, wasn't expecting this to happen.

anyone care to explain how the whole brake system is gonna work? is it a totally new pivotal heel piece then?

Who is Coup? Does he have some knowledge on this? I was able to order baseplates last year why would this year be any different?

Yep! Just like the PX but with the Pivot heel! A din 12 or 14 with the race toe would cost the same as a P18, doesn't make much sense.

My rep told me baseplates be available when the bindings get released, with the various brakes, and can be fitted to old bindings.

They will fit, you just back the forward pressure out all the way and it bolts right on, but you probably wont be able to actually buy them. its super limited production for team and industry production.

remember fks 120s? they were the same deal, and no one had any problem with those. a heavy, all-metal toe piece serves no purpose on a lower-din binding other than increasing weight and increasing cost.

if youre that concerned, find a pair of fks 155s.

in that case the 14 din should cost 429 and 18 din should cost 439, if you have metal toes the only difference is a din spring

i can't believe these bings are 440 dollars now, just a year or so ago you could go on ebay and buy 188cm race stock superGs with 185s for a 150-200 bucks

yea that definitely sucks. my plan is to make the FKS that I have last the next couple years until I can start to find cheap used pairs again.

Not sure who Coup is but psyched his's spreading the word.

The FKS 140, and 180 will hit the stores in Nov. Shop guys can pre-book theirs right now. The stock is going to be tight, but they will be in the retail market, and available for pro sales. If ya want'em buy'em don't wait.

FKS 140 $339 115mm, or 90mm Same toe as this year, but much wider AFD (wider than Jester)

FKS 180 $439 115mm, or 90mm

Everyone is worried about the price, just wait a bit. The originial FKS and FKX weren't exactly plentious nor were they cheap when they came out. Give it a couple of years and these will be more available used. But man, the 14 din with a wide brake has me salivating.

Some people seem surprised that there so expensive. Limited supply, massive demand. Go figure....

Like triple strum said, give it a few years when theres lots around they'll be as cheap as the old ones were before they went out of production.

truth is, older fks are easy to find for cheap, i recently got p18's for 140 shipped, you just gotta look hardeither way, i'm paying for a new (bright orange...secks) binding that will last me a lifetime and a half, these things never die

hate to break it to you guys, but fks's do die, i've had many heal pieces become stripped/ useless. not to mention all the fucked up brakes. my buddy even snapped the toe piece on 155's, the all metal ones. so yeah, they're good bindings, but they are no where near invincible, and if you ski hard, they won't last more than two years max.

They are far more durable than the jester series that everyone has a hardon for though. You cannot deny this. No one can.

which is why the kids need to stick it out and find a pair of the old geze toe fks 150/180s. best binding ever made, im convinced. even gives salomon's all metal 916 toe a run for its money.

i have had fks' break in some funny ways though. like the little wing that your heel steps on when you step in, i managed to break that on a pair. and i dont think i have ever gone more than half a season with both sides of both brakes intact. ive broken the afd plate clear off on a pair of p18s, despite my attempts to epoxy it to the ski, and i have had some strange things go down with the plastic on the heels.

i am 6'1" 200 lbs though, and i skied on 185s with the din at 16. could have something to do with it, i suppose thats a lot of stress to put on a binding.

Yeah, they're definitely more durable than anything else out there, but still all bindings break and get fucked up. Not a permanent investment.

im gonna wait until someone gets the 18s cuz of the hyphy orange, doesnt really need 10-18 din and blows their knee, or snaps a tib fib then sells em slightly used for 250.

it seems like even an insider deal on these sucked because after shipping and tax, it would be in the ball park of getting em from bc.com with lifetime garuntee. im gonna have to wait unless i scuss an insane deal.

stoked to see this thing built for fat skis though.
