Shit, I hate what fixies have become in modern culture. I started riding fixed gear years ago, long before it was cool or hip. It was, and still is, a fun, quick and cheap way to rip around town. Honestly, I love to ride my fixie as a mode of transportation. I don't go anywhere on it to be seen. I don't like hipsters for the sole reason that they made all fixed gear riders look like total tools. Sorry for the mini rant, this shit just pisses me off
 


I do agree with you on most of this, but they are for, you know, track riders, and they have been around alot longer than stupid fucking hipsters (ya i hate them too) but just cause they ruined our sweet ass sport does not mean fixed gears and strictly for them. not hate but fixed are actual sport and alot of people forget that.
 
haha I was waiting for this thread to turn into a giant "fixed-gear hipster" hating sesh.I don't want to get too into it, because honestly this topic has been beaten to death harder than a baby seal..Try to compare it to park skiing....I wonder what all the real skiers think of all these retarded looking kids (90% of park skiers have horrible style in terms of clothing and actual skiing abilities) mangling what was once a sport that was exempt of terrain parks.
Be more open minded. I still think tight jeans and shoddy multi-colored bike builds aren't as bad as the chron kids who think that wearing a touque and tall-t year-round is a legit personal statement.....

Being good at biking on a fixie is nothing to proud of, sort of like whether you can burp the alphabet, or how many of Morissey's lyrics you know by heart.

there are some legit fixie riders and it actually take skill and talent to do what they do. its just that all that is cover by all the little rich kids that have there parents buy them one just because it was a trend. and they never even ride it do get places, they just ride to look cool or be in the trend. and that mostly all the bikers that you see. thats probably why eneryone thinks so negative of them
 
uh actualy i bought my bike. sold my shwinn for 250 and had a 100 bucks soo you can suck.
and i bought it cause its fun :)
