Fix base damage with coke lid

I've been told that you can easily fix damage to the base of skis by melting on coke lids. Does anyone know if this is true?

I’ve used pen caps when I didn’t have p tex.

someone should start a thread with the most ridiculous ski fixes with shit like this. I know kids that had binding holes stripped out and they just threw a fat drywall screw in there and chopped the bottom off. Or using some kind of ridiculous lubricant or wax on your bases. Aka goat semen.

Kids at my local where spraying pam on there bases all weekend lol

Lol I’ve heard same with the plastic holders that hold 4 beers from the top. I read somewhere (actually I think on tgr) that you don’t want to do this because the plastic is low molecular weight vs high molecular weight on bases so it won’t stay well. Idk if it’s true or not though

I wish I took a video of it but my one of my friends pulled his pivot out of his k2 poachers so he took some fat screws he had and just drilled a new hole through the base of the pivot (not even through the original hole) all the way through the base of the ski, then cut off and sanded down the extra screw, then he was worried about water so he cut it down to below the base a little and p texed over it. The pivot pulled out again first nose butter like a lap or two in.
