First tracks and deep pow stories

i've been waiting for this line in copper bowl to open up for awhile now. it's this little chute between a couple cliffs. i go out today, and it's open. there isn't a single track through it. hell ya- perfect timing. so smooth. now, i'm home and i'm still stoked!

a few days ago, I woke up early, got to the lift at 8:30 and head straight to enchanted forest. the gate was open, but there wassn't a single track through it. I go through the traverse, come into the bowl, and it is pristine. not a track in sight. it was beautiful, i don't think i've ever seen the entire bowl blanketed in snow and untouched by anyone. face shots all the way down.

what you got?

good story. me and my friend are silverton. my brother told me about a spot there were it is jsut pillow after pillow after pillow. We head out to where he told us and we see a perfect untracked line covered with pillows. it was amazing. best skiing memory ever.

My friend Bill and I were at Loveland last weekend. We took chair one up at about 3:01pm. As we got off the lift we started to hike behind the rock house. HA, as we started to hike ski patrol saw us and was like.."hey, you guys have a bacin" I was like nope and started to hike. It was ok, we were not going to the avi area that's up there. So we hiked for aobut 45 minutes. MAN...we dropped in, it was so epic fresh face shots not even hit anywhere in site. Trees, little cliff drops. SICK. Well worth the hike.

today my cousin and i hikes 2.25 miles out past the outer limits on keystone and dropped into the freshest freshies I've ever experienced. so deep and so smooth by far the best day skiing I've ever had

Skinned up to East Vail from the T-Bar last run of the day two days ago; I was originally planning on hitting Mushroom Bowl [Another very sick, resort-accessed BC area for those of you not familiar with Vail] becuase it's a bit safer as far as avy conditions go seeing as I was by myself. I carry a PBL Beacon [Personal Locator Beacon, basically a solo beacon], Avalung, Shovel, ect... but still wanted to play it safe a a snowboarder recently dieds in an avalanche in East Vail [R.I.P]. I skinned up to the top of the ridge overlooking benchmark bowl, king Tuts, WaterTower Chutes, Kind Arthurs, and other popular East Vail Lines. It had been snowing all day but just then the clouds parted and the sun came out, shining on over 3,000 vertical feet of untracked powder below. I put on my gear, traversed down a bit, and chose a relatively conservative line by East Vail Standards, the far side of an open bowl near some trees. I started out the line with a series of 5 to 10-foot pillows into some trees, followed by a 20-foot cliff with a nice, soft, dteep landing. I was a little nervous about the 20-footer but the landing looked good so I pointed em' straight and 'whoosh'.... next thing I remember was the deepest, plushest LZ of my life, and amazed to still be on both ski's , I picked up some speed and started ripping big turns down the remaining 2,000 vert. feet of the run... every turn was a face shot, knee to waist deep pow that was so light and fluffy it was blowing up in my face and IU could hardly see... I leaned back for fun and was amazed at how even though I was moving fast, only the back 1/3rd of my skis even were touching the snow... I really felt like I was floating. At the bottom I found a great, well-tracked cattrack out as usual, and coasted down to the East Vail Bus stop to catch the bus back to my car. The other people on the bus seemed a bit weirded out as I couldn't shake the shit-eaten grin off my face for a good half hour... I think I could have died happy then haha..... In short, probably the best run of my life.

stay steazy,

Phil.

my best one is when i traversed out of the backcountry gate from vail in blue sjy basin and got out to those cliffs. zero tracks and a good lines all the way down. really nice and deep and really good. but the best of my life is skiing a few years back at jackson hole(first time i had ever been) and took  few runs off the tram through rendevous bowl and to the chutes below them. after my 2 run of this i thought i would try something over on the right side of the mountains and more specifly above the bridger gondola in casper bowl and i traversed after i climed and hit one great shot. i remeber flowing all the way down through just deep bottomless powder that was so fresh and light it was amazing

well... im not sure because that was only my second time at keystone. it was still inbounds so im pretty sure I didn't go "behind" anything

You are really really really stupid for skiing the east vail chutes by yourself no matter what gear you have.
