Alright, so i know this is a thread you see every other day on ns and frankly i don't like them either, but I'm stoked on my first edit with my new t2i and wondered what ns thought of it, what i should do better, etc. Filmed with the kit lens and a DIY stabilizer fig rig. At the time this video was shot i did not have a tripod, but now i do. inb4 thread hate / inb4 repost

not bad man. The images looked a bit soft, but I'd blame that partially on the kit lens. I would work on keeping things in focus more. For a skating edit, a wider lens may have worked better, it seemed like you were shooting at 50mmish for most of the edit. Bump it down to 17mm and it would eliminate some of the shaking. You just got a tripod so that's the first step. The motion blur also seemed a little choppy/unnatural. It looked as though the shutter was 1/30, or it was 720 60fps that was never converted. Try and put the shutter speed at double the frame rate and it should give it more of a natural feel. No hate, just critiquing like you asked for. Learning the dslr takes some time, but it's a fun process. Just keep getting out there and shooting!

probably not, the kit lens will look just as sharp as any other lens in an embedded vimeo player assuming the focus is right

that surprises me. I only had the kit lens for a week before I sold it, but could it be that it's a bit touchier to get the image perfectly focused (almost like how the 50 1.8 is)

Thanks man! I really appreciate it. I'm on mobile right now but when I get home I'll post my most recent video, a test of my tripod. 10/10k
