First Skiing Experience

Hi all! I just had my first skiing experience a little while ago, and I loved every bit of it! even the whole sore everywhere, especially the hindquarters part (my friends told me to wear those buttpad things for noobs, and I was like "screw that I'm awesome!"....i should've worn them >.>)

It was so exciting, even though I pansied out of going on a black diamond run....they told me that because not alot of people go on black diamonds that the snow is better and more fluffy, so when you fall you dont hurt as bad....didnt believe them...

Anyway!

I was wondering what the more pro people had as their first experiences! Post it here~

Also feel free to post things that you wished you knew before you started skiing~

Welcome to NS and congrats on finding the sport we all love. This is the Forum to post it in, and good call on the black diamonds, they aren't the best area for a newb. The only thing I remember my first time out was the instructor teaching me "pizza" "fries"........
 
First time I went skiing was 3 years ago. My friends took me to the top of the payday lift at park city. Bailed on me the instant we got off the lift and I struggled my ass down to the base. I think not taking lessons helped me out a ton! Only part that woulda been nice is when learning to use the uphill edge.
 
my 1st time was when my mom set me up for a lesson. i was 3 at the time and was lacking a lot of muscle. i fell cuz i didn't know what i was doing and the fucking bitch of an instructor kept yelling at me to get up but i didn't know how. i still hate her!!! i wanna find her, break her fucking legs and keep tellin her to get up and not help haha
 
That's a lot of hate there. My first time I skied with my dad and he's a good skier so it was easy to learn from him.
 
First time I went to the hill was in fourth grade for tubing and I felt really jealous of the snowboarders.

I went up to snowboard a few weeks later, but I didnt like it that much

My brother decided to try skiing, and he liked it so I decided to give it a go. It was awesome. I basically spent the entire day bombing down every run out of control. There were these rollers and I remember catching tons of air (for me at the time)off each!
 
ok so if ure new u need to get ur steeze down, wear just a t shirt in the park and make sure to tuck it into ur pants, looks so steezy. also spread eagles are probably the sickest looking trick there is
 
Instructor taught us how to put on our skis and told us to stand on a carpet while she helped the other kids. Somebody came flying down the hill and hit me. I fell down and broke my arm. We had to cancel my birthday party two days later because it was at a swimming pool and I couldn't get the cast wet.

Total 'skiing experience' lasted about 3 minutes.
 
When i first went skiing i was l was like 4 or 5. I remember holding on to my mom's pole and she dragged me down the mountain. Also they took away my poles after like 5 minutes

The landing of any trick on skis with what appears to be extreme steeze. Usually done by placing hands by waist in front or behind and leaning back in a relaxed stance.

exactly!!! i'm an instructor now and i always teach the kids how to get up before anything, sometimes they're too young and it's difficult which i could understand
 
ah i see you are new here. if your name is in a pink font that means you must upload pics of yourself so that when you post in a thread the ns community may then go and stalk your profile and judge you... so yea. do that.
 
in my backyard when I was 2. my first real day skiing was at campgaw hill in New jersey, haha my parents told me that to take me to the mountain I had to stop wearing diapers. Needless to say I stopped wearing diapers and went skiing. I was an awesome child.

 
well anyway

skiing...i enjoyed it when i was younger. minus the fact of being knocked over by a careening adult snowboarder male.
