First Pipe in the East

Okemos is opening the first of its two suppa pipes tomorrow. pluss there expecting almost a foot of snow from this storm. looks like another sick weekend at okemo

Actually Blue Mountain's superpipe has been open since last Saturday and its gonna be in prime condition for this weekend's NS party!

I'm glad to see everyone out east is able to take advantage of the low temps too. How is Okemo's park?

the park was fun last weekend, they had a ton of features, couple rails, alot of the tables were small and not too much kick to them. but they had two hips which were sick, the one at the bottom was about 50+ feet and kicked you way up there

 
sunapee is opening there pipe today or tommorow .... i think it should be good this year.. b/c they got a new park manager. and he loves riding pipe!!!!

blue mt may be east of the missisippi but i dont consider it east coast skiing. i have been skiing east coast for the last 22 seasons and i have never even heard of blue mtn till on this forum.

 
yeah, and i don't think blue has 22 foot walls on their pipe

i dont think okemo has 22 ft walls either. infact, i know they dont, being that i was there opening day. try 15. sick pipe though. could use some flat botom, but thats the way early season pipes are.

 
okemo rules. best pipe in the east by far. oh and its way bigger then 15ft. not reaching as high as 22 yet though

I think you've never heard of blue because 1) it's Canadian. 2) it's not really east coast skiing by your standards. it closer to midwest skiing than it is to Appalacian skiing.

Blue's pipe was about 19ft opening day I think.

maybe it was the lack of transition or the lack of flat bottom but i think okemos pipe is too big......maybe its because im a big pussy but i saw nobody go higher than 6 feet out of it including chris mitchel a kid whos boosted nearly 20 feet out of the 15 foot smuggs pipe. so yea i think pipes might be getting too big.

18ft............no. 15 ft.........yes. it is no larger than that height.measure it if you would like..... and by no means does each pass of the zaugg make it larger, just smoother and wider.

and stratton,my brother is a park ranger and says it is 16ft, and no flatbottom, similar to okemo. they will eventually be rebuilding it 18-20 ft tall.

 
yeah man, no bash blue, it fucking rules, it is not eastcoast, kuz we gots more ice, it is ontario at it's best. 2 superpipes and a whole whack of features....

okemo has a super and regular pipe open too? or were you talking about another mt bwbski?

 
okemo right now has a super pipe and a mini pipe that only has like 5 ft walls, but they are building another superpipe, probably up in a few weeks

 
alright got to low down on the pipe and park scene, first off the pipe is 18 ft. walls, it won't be cut to 22' because the pipe manager said t's too big even though they have the capabilities w/ the ZAugg, they'll make a 22' quarter when they get enough snow piled up at the bottom of the pipe, the pipe is skiiny because every time they groom it, it'll get wider, making it a perfect pipe around january. As for the park, it's nice and they have a down kink rail and a flat 30' shotgun to put up, they look nice. come up dec. 27th for their 1st pipe comp $15 to enter

 
Stratton's pipe has been up since like last friday or saturday, its really nice.
