My friend set up in his backyard a jump and a quarter pipe on a tree and decided to make a little photo session. A set up two speedlights on stands and just had some fun. What do you think?

These are me, however the person shooting me, shot early and then next shot one, and the 2nd flash didn't fire.

Meh, the first one is the best of them all, but still its such a small feature and the flash doesnt looks pretty standard so it looks like you couldve taken it with a PNS. But again, theyre compressed and shit so its always hard to appreciate a photo when its been compressed.

We only hit it for a little bit and I was too lazy to change camera angles because then I would need to change the light, which took maybe 20 minutes to setup. As for the flashes, the second one isnt the best example but on the 1st and 3rd, isn't obvious the two different light sources so it wouldn't be from a PNS? Yea, I know they are compressed a lot but eh, whatever. Clicking them looks better but not as good as it should be.

Yeah, the first one has some nice lighting and you can tell its more than just a normal flash, i was referring to the other ones. Im not trying to talk down on you or tell you they suck or that you suck because you in no way suck at taking photos, i was just telling you what i thought.

haha thanks man. I wasn't arguing or anything. I know the it was hard to get pictures on the quarter pipe and well for me, since I was the only skier there I figured I might as well post a ski picture. The 3rd was ok for lighting, but the photographer was too early, then 2nd one of me was pose was ok but lighting sucked. Meh, round 2 next week.

personally i think that all are taken way too close. none really follow the rule of thirds. the first one is slightly over exposed blowing out the snow and slightly his face. composition is the biggest thing here though. you have to work on that to get a dope picture. plus the last 2 are butt shots and look stupid.

Rule of thirds=suggestion of thirds=centered isn't always bad. Not specifically here, but i general, at everybody not just whoever II quoted.

Blown out snow? Were you expecting any detail in it? It's snow.

I see it was just a fun backyard sesh but I would have shot looser. That first photo horizontal, a little further away and less light spill and ambient light would have looked good with the same expression.

Unless he set up lights to hit the snow and rider separately there is really little control over blown out snow.

No hate on anybody if it sounded like it.

haha wow. I shot them much looser but I liked the tight crop. I wanted then in the position because there was a house light and I wanted them in the way to block the house light.
