First Park ever?

well i´m working on a huge project @school bout the development of newschool skiing..(20pages written, videos and photos). so every now and then i will start some threads like that..

so which resort was the first one with an extra park-area and when was it..?

used searchbar but didn´t find anything..

The first park I remember riding was at Boreal.. but I doubt it was the first park ever. But it was a pretty long time ago.

try to limit it between either east / west to make it more specific. I know mount snow had the first designated terrain park in the east. then you can talk about how it evolved. i think the first xgames park was at suicide six in vt which was only for snowboarders then. check out info on burton because they had a huge influence in the first terrain parks, in part because they were on the e.c. hope this helps your paper / research

For Europe the very first is Avoriaz.

Over there it started in 1988, with a first pipe in 1989, and with the first true dedicated snow park in Europe in 1993. Superpark (Les Crosets) followed in 1994. Both parks are in the same ski area. It's not surprising that these 2 parks were the training ground for Mik Deschenaux and Candide Thovex.

i would have to say boreal as well. that was soooo long ago. the only jibs they had were a pvc pive in the snow and a civic halfway covered so you could jib the roof. that was back when it was the 'snowboard park' and skiers weren't allowed in there. my goodness, how mammoth changed things...

big bear had the first "park". stratton had one really early on, one of the first. brecks is real old too. last year was breck's 20th aniversary of snowboarding. waterville valley's "boneyard" is mad old, too.

i think stratton was the first pipe, i think east cost was before the west just because burton is from vt and thats a hugee influence

i thought they just had the only half pipe in their area of california, big bear looks pretty dope though

Even though we were one of the first mountains to cater to snowboarders, I don't think we had the first official park. But ppl had built tree jibs and what not before anyone else.
