A shut down ski resort in Vermont might open back up to hike and ski only on it slopes. Basically the town where the old resort is wants to buy the land and keep the trails clean for mt biking and skiing. Any other places like this ?

Check it out here.

Smithers, bc has a full on touring ski area. No chair lifts, just a parking lot, a warming hut halfway up and a glading/brushing program in the offseason.

WG was such a cool place. Right between two resorts with lifts, too- when I was there the other places were still offering $5 one-ups if you didn't want to flat traverse back to WG or climb/ski back over.

Dem boys know their moonshine too lemme tell ya.

anything that keeps the land open for skiing is good, who knows maybe if there is enough use and interest, they'll be able to re-install lifts in the future.
