First edit of the season

I thought there were some rad angles in there. Probably could have done away with some of the sketch shots. I also thought the music didn't fit, but that's just me.

You probably could have made a little mini edit out of those bails and your antics that would have been pretty entertaining to watch!!

tripod + take out 95% of the shots + make the whole rail = better edit next time.

There were just way to many shots that didn't need to be there and most of the cuts were wayyyyyy to late. shots would drag on much longer than they needed too. Also all of those angles sucked because they gave absolutely no perspective of anything and I had no idea what was going on. Its sick that you guys are getting out there and givin'er. Your camera man just really needs to step his game up.

I'm the camera man... anyway the cuts were too late as in there needs to be more shot of the roll up? You think it would be better with less dynamic angles and more straight tripod footage? I only had those dudes to work with so making the whole rail was kind of a long shot.

There was a tripod in the background at one point, I would recommend using it. You can still pan the camera around a bit on it. Try to not have it show shaky. Also you can use a tripod as a mono pod or hold it with your hands like this dude:

as in a lot of the shots were just way too long. the angles werent dynamic because you couldn't tell what was going on. just because you are getting super up close or under the rider doesn't make the shot dynamic.

the first shot in this is what I would call dynamic. it gives you perspective and depth while maintaining a constant frame.

what do you mean you couldn't tell what was going on? I feel like I had enough establishing shots on both rails to set up the scene pretty well? You might have had to make a guess at where the camera was at some points but I think it was pretty clear? that could also just be because I know the set up

i dont mean establishing shots. its hard to explain. IMO tight framed shots where you can only see the skiers boots look bad and you dont get to see what else is going. pretty much you were just too close to everything.

here is an example of simple composition making it easy to see whats going on with the feature. Wide shots are your friend.

sorry for the self promotion. this is an episode we made a few years ago.
