First Drop or Saga?

Just curious on what you guys think which outerwear is better in qaulity, First Drop or Saga?

definitely Saga. i've seen those soggy sleeping bags they call First Drop. it looks like saga gets better quality every year.

Well I think it differs between product. Everyone is saying Saga is more durable, but I have both a First Drop and Saga hoodie, and overall the First Drop has been much more durable. The metal piece that holds the Saga drawstring into the hood ripped out of the hood liner. There also are one or two small holes. The First Drop however has remained intact, with the exception of a few small puffs of yarn on the hobo cuffs. I ordered my Saga a size too big and it's a bit wide around the bottom, but it still looks good.

Hope I helped.

I think hes talking about outerwear for winter.

From what ive seen, first drop tears easy and gets heavy with water very easily. my saga pants kept we warm and dry everyday on the mountain. Im kinda bias because i dont own FD but the quality you get from saga is the best for the price i think.

Yeah I've seen this with First Drop outerwear as well, I can't really say much though because I've never owned Saga or First Drop outerwear.

do you want this to happen to you?

I don't own either, but I have heard that FD is just slightly under SAGA. I wouldn't own either because my $50 snow pants and $150 vans jacket holds up super good.

But if your willing to pay the money I would go with SAGA.

Iv'e had FD jacket and pants this season, and i haven't had any problem with them. They are suuuper warm and comfy. I choosed FD because it looked so sick. I think FD looks better than Saga...

Don't go First Drop. I had issues with the first year hoddie, everyone I know that owns it has had major issues with gloves, outerwear, and hoodies. The two Saga suits I have are excellent. I have no complaints about Saga and it's a shell, which is awesome because it's not too cold in CA, but I will need to layer occasionally.

Ive owned both (yes trendwhore i know) and i have to say, first drop although it may get terrible reviews from everyone on this website is not as bad as people say. all these problems people have with their FD ripping, i have had no tears or even nicks in my FD other than from my ski edge slicing the bottom of my pants.

The one issue most people have on lock is that Fd is not the most waterproof outerwear u can get, the suit saturates(for people who dont know wut that means to fill completely with something that permeates or pervades) with water pretty quickly, although the inside of the suit never got wet even when i went skiing in the rain.

The thing i love about the suit is that it is incredably warm so there is little to no need to layer under (this is only good if you own another jacket or are willing to not wear it on hot days

Now to Saga, i only own saga pants but the quality overall seems better than my FD, the fabric they used seems much more durable and is (although i havnt skied wearin them in the rain) has kept the water out much better than my Fd pants.

The only complaint i have about my saga pants is the fact that they are not as baggy as the Fd, the saga pants seem to get skinnier at the knee than my fd, but the fd pants are gigantic so that may be the main difference

sparknotes: Fd=warm/gets wet on outside, has been durable for me Saga= shell(not warm) much more waterproof, has been as durable as my Fd

Wrong.

FD is horse shit compared to Saga.

Your statement is like comparing a cheap hooker to a nice classy girl.

Personally, I am more of a fan of north face, orage, and oakley outerwear. That being said, I would choose Saga over First Drop. You get more out of what you're paying for.

i like fd pants more, but fd is very unprofessional, like i ordered a XL blue and black jacket, i got it found out its too big, and then had to fight for 2 months to return them, but it is a family owned buisness

and personally i've never ordered from saga but very nice detail and the syrup jacket looks nice too

first drop red and black pants are my personal favorite though

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses. Just to throw out a few things...

Concerning our past gear, we have only gotten positive responses from people that have bought our gear. Yes, it's very warm- it's insulated, not just a shell), and yes it's 100% (20,000 mm) waterproof meaning you can ski in the rain and the fabric may become wet, but you never will.

We are a very new company, and have been greatly improving our gear with each production run that we do. We continuously strive to make our gear the best available. After spending almost a month visiting countless factories overseas, we are now switching to a new factory for this coming season, and we think our new stuff will be some of the dopest gear on the planet.

We also have a great warranty policy- if your gear falls apart because of something that isn't your fault then send it in and we'll pay to have it professionally fixed and Fedexed back to you.

Thanks for the support,

I've had zero problems with my fd jacket. I dont know about saga(cause I've never owned it) but I really like my first drop.

Saga for sure. But I miss my old saga. That stuff was freaking TITS. I could snag on anything and rip tree branches off. This new stuff isn't as waterproof as I was hoping for. And it's so thin that I worry it'll rip. But it held up really good last season. So I'm happy.

i like them both, i have 2 fd hoodies and they both have held up real nice, not problems, i have a saga vest too and it has great material and is built/ made really really well

BUT the outerwear for fd seems to have some problems, but there still a very new company so maybe theyll change things up this year.

Sagas's outerwear is solid, iv only heard a couple of bad things about it, other than the shape out the pants and jackets i love them

but i personally think going with either one would be fine

i have to say, own(ed) both saga and FD suits,
saga:saga has been around for almost 7 yearstheir quality has improved with every seasonthey fucked the fuck out of there outerwear shipping this seasonthey pay attention to detailstall jackets

Fd:first drop has been around for 2 yearsfd quality is a alrightmy fd pants had numerous rips in the seams in my inside parts of my pantsgreat shipping an price, excluding the $50 customs fee to canadathey do not pay attention to details, ( sewing was awful, i could see many factory mistakes in my jacket)wide/tall jacketspants have suspenders

in both cases i loved my gear, but saga has had more experience with making outerwear, even 2009/2010 jackets weren't that good in quality for saga. but now they have great shit dropping.FD as been around for 2 years, they make alright quality that could easily be improved, as they said above, they got a new supplier, so i am happy to see what their gear looks like next year, buy their shit before you stop cusing them, and truth is fd is warmer then saga
