First Drop customs in canada

hey so i bumped a thread a while ago and got no response, so i figured id make my own

i dont usually buy online from the states and i was just wondering if anyone from canada had bought any first drop and had to pay a shitload for customs. i heard ldc is pretty ridiculous and i dont want to have it arrive and have to pay a extra 100 bucks.

I bought FKS 140's from getboards earlier this month. They ran me about $260 CDN after shipping (one hell of a deal). Upon arrival I think the duties ran me another 12 bucks.

Provided they don't differentiate between clothing/outerwear and sports equipment I'm guessing the customs for the jacket will be anywhere from 15-20 bucks.

It depends on what company they're shipping it with. USPS seems to be free. FedEx and UPS can be $50+.

also depends what its claimed as. a gift is generally cheaper/free for duties, and depends how much they claim its worth as

sometimes companies claim things as pretty much worthless so that customs are much, i had something come from out of the country worth like 300 and company claimed it as 10 bucks ahha

I'm not sure what First Drop uses, but if it is USPS there is no duties. I bought two things at separate times, one $500 and the other $150. Both Sender's used USPS and I didn't get charged for the duties.

If First Drop uses UPS your going to pay for duties though.

Customs is really a hit or miss thing. They don't have a set formula for how much they charge, it really comes down to how the customs agent is feeling that day. They have full power to charge basically (within some parameters) whatever they want.
That being said, we at First Drop mark the value of everything SUPER low. Now, they can still charge whatever they want but usually charge a lot less.
The reason we don't mark things as "gifts" is because when being shipping from a company, that raises eyebrows and then things get flagged and your stuff gets stuck in customs for weeks/months.
We have never had a problem with anything getting stuck in customs (unless the customer supplied some incorrect shipping info) and guarantee all of our shipping, regardless of where in the world it's going.
Hope this helps,

aaaahhh i live close to the border (Qc side) and just get all my shit shipped to a small convenience store on the other side of the border. when i get to the border, i just dont claim it or claim the least expensive thing i had. like once i claimed Refresh and got past with over 100$ of Jiberish on my back.

Gotta disagree with you on that point.

In my experiences, USPS has been hit or miss. Ordering a bunch of stuff from the Level 1 store has not cost me anything in the way of duties, ordering things from getboards or other random stores has netted me a few random charges here and there. (Keep in mind, in both cases the seller used USPS).

Ultimately it comes down to the customs officer who is inspecting your parcel. If they deem that the item warrents a 25 dollar duty, then that's what you'll pay.

Most companies I've dealt with drastically reduce their prices when declaring values, so even if there is a charge you're getting it at a discount.

word when i order from saga or level 1 they always put value, 10 dollars.i havent paid duty on anything from ns level 1 or saga but when i bought my hellbents it cost me 44 dollars or something
