First comp

There is a red bull sponsored event at my home mountain in western ny called the allsnow (holiday valley). Now if you don't know what it is, look it up, but basically it's what the name implies, all snow. No rails or jibs.

My question is should I do it or not? I'm not a super good park skiier I got 180s and 3s pretty well down by now, and by the competition (Feb 21) I'll prolly have some inverts in my bag of tricks Along with 5's and maybe 7s Hopefully. I get out a lot also so I'm progressing pretty fast I'd say.

I just don't know what the skill level would be at an event like this. I know it would be fun I just don't want to embarrass my self super bad. So should I compete? Also is any one here competing?

Thanks

Who cares dude, I'd rather live a life of regrets than what ifs. I mean I find that the ski community in my area is really supportive whether you are a great park skier or your just starting off. Even if you don't win or your run doesn't go as planned, there is always something to be learned. There is also the chance that you will do great, so why not? Have a go at it. Peace.

Just do it, who cares how good you are.

The problem is, I've never done a comp of any kind so I have absolutely no clue what to expect.

What's the worse that can happen? Everyone is way better than you and you lose? So you end up in the exact same position you're in now but you've learned a bunch of new tricks and had a good time.

Kinda in the same boat. Idk if I wanna compete cause like I kinda suck aaand I don't have any friends to ski with so I would be up there alone. I've never even done a rail jam.

Do you ski at holiday or kb?

I had my first comp a few weeks back, most fun day of my life man. Took second place in my age group. I honestly thought i would do terrible, i say just go out there and have fun. Maybe get a buddy to do it with you. Put in some tunes, i regularily dont ski with them, i put them in my comp and it made me a little more focused.

Ya just go for it. It really wont even feel like a comp. Ive been in rail jams and usually forget that we are actually competing. Regardless you will for sure have a great time whether you decide to do it or not.

So Red Bull just had an All Snow comp at my home mountain as well and there was everything from seasoned park skiers throwing cork 7s and rodeos to people who could barely even make it down the course without dying. It's chill and you should totally do it, it's a sweet opportunity to get into the air more and learn some new shit. Have fun with it op and don't get run over by the truck they drive up the hill lmao (you will see)

Thanks for all the support. I'm pretty sure I'm gunna do it now. Hopefully I'll see some of you there!

Just go for it! You have nothing to lose. I know i'm not a great skier and don't expect to ever win, but I just have fun with it and it's a good way to meet new skiers

OP you should do it. You won't embarass yourself. Maybe you could even try some new tricks during the comp. My friends and I have progressed a lot just from trying to do something fresh in a comp.

With how bad they've been this season I don't think anyone likes it there.

Why is it so bad? I took my carving skis out to Boston Mills and it was pretty good. I haven't been to Branywine yet though.
