Fired Today and need advice

My close friend my sophmore year of highschool was killed by a drunk driver. So fuck you for thinking i condone it at all.

I just think it's dumb to wish horrible things on someone who made a mistake. Hell, police officers get DUI's.

Vehiclular manslaughter is a different story, I wish nothing but a long prison sentence for that and luckilly the asshole who killed my friend got just that.

 
I'm inclined to agree. He barely blew over. That should be considered he wasn't plastered and prolly would have passed a st. I think some of the responses are a little harsh
 
Yeah- I agree with it too. I mean, if you've never blown into a breathalyzer, you may not know what .08, or .10 (whatever the limit in OK is) feels like. You may just be unaware out of sheer ignorance how little it takes to be considered intoxicated behind the wheel. And like Will said- there isn't a no tolerance policy, they set a limit, and the limit varies from state to state, so if I was in a state where the limit as .1 and I blew a .09 and they let me drive away I would be an ok person, but if I had blown the same in WA where the limit is .08 I'm a piece of shit? It's really hard to physically feel the difference between a .07 and a .08. Should he be more careful from here on out? yes. Should he feel embarrassed and guilty about it? I would. Is he a shitty person? I don't think so.

If someone gets a second DUI that's a different story, but everyone makes mistakes.

And alcohol affects different people at different rates. So one person may be able to handle four drinks over two hours where another might be quite a bit over the limit.

In my opinion, all bars and restaurants should offer disposable breathalyzers. I would say people should have their own, but if the bars provided them at least you wouldn't run into anyone who "forgot" theirs or what have you.

And just as a warning to those reading this thread, even if you feel like you are the DD and have only had 1 or 2 beers, if you get pulled over your fate is in the hands of the cop. It might as well be zero tolerance because if they feel like it they are gonna give you a DUI, that's what their job is these days. I've had my apartment broken into, my car broken into and also had a drunk driver smash my car in an apartment complex and the plice did absolutley nothing about it. The guy that hit my car parked 2 spots down from it and his cell phone was on the ground next to his car and the cop that came didn't even go look for the guy and I ended up getting nothing for a totalled car because I only had liability.

and I wouldn't look for sympathy if I got a dui? For one, I don't drive if I'm fucked up...If I know I have no shot in hell at a breathalyzer or successfully passing a roadside test, I will gladly call a cab, as I plan to tonight come closing time.

yeah cause im downtown at the bar at 6 o clock. I live on the best coast... it's not drinking time yet. Well I take that back... anytime is drinking time.

i love all of the high and mighty tones in this thread. while I agree that driving drunk is idiotic, i can certainly sympathize with someone who had 2 beers in an hour and just barely blew over the limit. that fucking sucks, and i would almost guarantee that every single one of you over the age of 21 have probably gotten behind the wheel of the car at a time when you would blow slightly over .08. i mean, .08 isn't shit.

OP - my dui cost me about 5k, so you might want to make sure you've got your ducks in a row before you blow a bunch of cash...and I didn't have to have a blow and go....from what I understand, those fuckers are expensive as hell...plus fines, court costs, lawyer, etc.

good luck, holmes, and I'd suggest either utah or tahoe so you can hit a bunch of resorts within a relatively close area.
 
So what I've gotten from this convo is that apparently I'm a horrible person and my life fucking sucks. Just from this post alone my score is -1, it says lame next to my name and my profile rating has dropped to a 4.6. Don't drink and drive people, you will pay for it in all aspects...especially on NS. Geez
 
Even if you are a big lad who according to himself can easily hold his liquor by the point that you have drunk four beers:

Concentration, Reasoning, Depth perception, Peripheral vision, Glare recovery, Reflexes, Reaction time and Gross motor control will all be impaired. And of course the deterioration of any form of judgement. Of course those effects won't present themselves to clearly to you, but you are aware of that those things happen when you drink.

Driving drunk is inexcusable. No matter how short the journey is and how much you may have drunk.

its one of the things they look for and notoriously pull people over for. Tail lights, turn signals out, plate lights all that shits easy to not notice but can fuck you over in the end
 
this really depends on how much time lapsed while consuming them. big difference between shot gunning four beers and drinking four beers over the course of several hours.

Four bears: 0,08-0,16 BAC, (depending on bodyweight.)

And standard charts say: Subtract approximately 0.01 every 40 minutes after drinking.

Still, it's terribly irresponsible. I see the effects of what drunk drivers do to themselves and others on a daily basis.

This guy is not the devil. Shit happens. I don't condone drunk driving, but i can guarantee that the vast majority of you hypocritical fucks will drive just over the legal limit at some point in your life. He passed the damn sobriety test for fucks sake.

Just give this guy some advice on what ski mountains to go to?

Still don't see why they do those sobriety tests in the U.S.A.

It's bloody silly and not scientifically backed.

Only the horizontal gaze nystagmus test has some scientific backing but alcohol isn't the only cause for it to happen and it will not happen to everyone.

Over here it's just always a small portable breathalyser, too high? You are taken to the police office, wait 30min and then proceed to take three tests on the big breathalyser.
