Find lost gear? stick n find, tile

I want to get one of these devices to track my skis this winter... there seem to be two products that could work

stated range: 50-150ft 'line of sight'

iOS based, bluetooth 4.0

preorder for about $18

still not shipping for a couple months (claim shipping 'winter 2013-14')

best advantage - can alert cloud network to let any other tile user know if your missing device is within their range

biggest con - they say batteries aren't replaceable and that you need to order new tiles each year essentially making it so that you pay ~$20/year for the service of finding your shit.

Android, iOS based, bluetooth 4.0

order for $49 for two devices

best advantages - replaceable batteries, smaller size

biggest con - slightly more costly, open speaker doesn't look snow friendly

Will these work under snow??? Are they water resistant?

would have been pretty rad, but it failed because it needed it's own searching device, using a phone is so much more sensible.

ah shit, it looks like these guys are in business. The final product looks a bit different than their first prototype.

Best advantage - designed for snow!

Biggest con - need another device in your pocket to make it work

using a phone is more sensible in my opinion.
