Find Handrails - Interactive Handrail Map

yup. A lot of spots get busted or called on by people who miss use the location with not cleaning up or some other act like that. Urban etiquette, and its tough to know that everyone who can click on a web page to find a location to have that respectable honor to where others may have...
like i messaged you before, respect on coming up with the idea, but its tough to know everyone would respect it like you would, its not a prefect world.
I would probably tell anyone I know of a location, but may not do the same to some punk as kid on the internet who could ruin spots we all enjoy

part of the experience is finding them yourself, yeesh.

stupid internet ruining everything, I'm too lazy to go the the grocery store, I will just have them delivered to me!.

threads. this is awsome i'll be for sure putting ALL my hometown urban spots up there.

I'm writting a droid app right now that will allow you to take a picture of a rail and it stores the gps location and other information... Also had a website in the works so everyones spots can be shared back in forth...

A decent idea but PLEASE don't go through with this. Maybe make it for you and your friends but like stated above making urban spots easily accessible for your average skier could very well lead to your favorite spots getting shut down. Besides searching for and eventually finding rails is half the fun of urban.

this is not brilliant, it's fucking LAME. as nearly everyone has mentioned, find your own spots and put in the time and effort to make them work.
If anyone ever did this for "backcountry spots" I'd go on a killing spree.
the new generation is fucked in the head. ya'all have no imagination, no creativity. it's sad.

I don't see the problem with this.... and i don't understand why people are spitting their dummies out over it ...

It doesn't mean you cannot take away from the adventure of finding new spots - all these spots will be well known, and probably 99% of them will have been hit already... so what's wrong with kids wanting to go and try hit them as well?!

Do you see climbers not reveal where their new routes are, so that nobody else can have a go at them? No.... don't be pretentious twats... Put a rail in a movie, kids are gonna get inspired to try and hit it too... just what happens...

And if some kid wants to put every man made handrail in america on a website, instead of ever kissing a girl.... ;-) then so be it - live n let live....

if everyone hit/knew about exactly the same urban spots then it would defeat half of the point of urban anyway

going to bee dopeee. what if you became a millionair cause this sight turned out like the facebook of the handrail community? hahaha

ya except were not granola-ass climbers were skiers trynna hit original spots not some shit that was already posted on the interweb

Oh how i wish that Dartmouth College would not fine for using its rails... there are so many banger rails around Hanover.. with a $500 fine for first offense. makes me SO mad.
speaking of which, besides UVM, UNH, and Plymouth, anybody know of good rails around VT and NH?

i thought of this same type thing a while ago. obviously didnt happen tho.

this should be pretty sick! im excited to see it develope

Are you kidding me? You honestly dont like going out and looking for your own spots that have not been hit?
this idea is horrible unless you are a lazy ass and cant find your own features.

this site needs to be easier to submit pics. Is anyone else feeling that? like I want to post them but I don't want to put all that shit into a spreadsheet.

there was a website that already did this, i really wish i could remember the name. it failed miserably for all reasons mentioned above.

The thing is, the reality of this website is that there are some douche bags, and I'd really rather not let them in on our local spots just because people worked so hard to find them and we take pride in them, and if they come in trash the area and just act stupid it would be a real shame if the city came in and chained up our spot and make it un hittable.

And really, isnt that what the summer and fall are for? scoping out new urban spots? Not sure how well this will work, but its gonna be somewhat helpful!

Good idea, I also think it would be sick if each handrail had a rate of difficulty 1-5. Not that it really matters, but it would be kind of cool if you could search by difficulty I.E. amount of kinks, curves, etc. that would give it its difficulty. A straight/flat rail could have a 1, and a rail such as Gagniers' in Refresh might have a 5.
