Final Cut Pro Installation

So my friend's dad works at a studio, and of course they have old versions of Final Cut Pro sitting around their editing suites that are uninstalled off their computers. So he grabbed one for me a copy of final cut pro HD 4. I'm pumped to install it on my new iMac and it is telling me that I have an invalid serial number. Any ideas?

Im sure that big company installed it on multiple computers, aka, all the licenses have been used.

 
Wouldn't it tell me that all licenses have been used then? they told me as long as you uninstall it from the previous computer then it lets you install it on another computer
 
Thats what I was thinking maybe they mixed up the books in the boxes cause I am definitely not typing it in wrong. Every place I found on google said to call apple, but I can't do that since I got this off of another person.
 
i think you should call apple, they arent gunna arrest you haha. if anything they will say they cant help you.

but you can tell them your dad bought it a while ago and wants to install it.
