Final cut help.

So my friend got his macbook pro today, and we are trying to make an edit on final cut express, and when we go to "Log and transfer" and select the videos this little exclamation point comes up next to the video and says there is no data. PLEASE HELP US OUT!!
 
well it may help to know what type of camera you are using? because anything with tape has to use log and capture, any memory card is log an transfer
 
No it's a digital camera. It's a Canon. So do you not need to use log and capture with a digital camera?
 
I import through imovie when im using the hf200. its a lot easier and i feel like it organizes it a lot better for me
 
i tried this but i couldn't figure out how to get imovie to save it as the right format. how do you do it?
 
It has an internal hard drive. The thing is is that this only happens on final cut, it works on everything else except that.
 
assuming you have the newer iMovie, i would recommend you import into imovie first, save it as an xml file, then open that file again in final cut. it's what i do and makes things way easier
