im new to this program so i just need some help on this, when i insert music file from my computer and put it in the part with the clips theres a red line above the time line and when i press play it just beeps and doesnt play. if anyone could help thanks

hey, you have to render the audio, just hit apple+R while it is selected. If you read the user manuel that will help you lots. Or just go to the top menu bar, and click sequence, then render all, or render selection.

this is because final cut won't read mp3 files you have to convert it. ok so you have your music in itunes i'm assuming so lets start there. open itunes, highlight a song you want. then go to advanced < create aiff version. do that. open final cut, now import the .aiff version, and your song will work

For what it's worth:

option+R is better to start using. It renders absolutely everything. Might take a little longer, but has been much less frustrating for me since I started using it.

you obviously don't know much about audio/video editing.

mp3s are really shitty files in the world of post production. Final cut makes a quick conversion to another file, so that in the end when you export the entire project the all audio tracks are the same, and are DVD, web streaming etc compatible.

No need to be sorry, but you dont know what you're talking about.

final cut makes me render pretty much any time i do anything. I would be surprised if it didn't make me render an audio file that I imported. It's not that it doesn't work with MP3, its that it needs to convert it to make it fit into the timeline, just like it would with a jpeg or something.
