FILMMAKERS: Film Documents?

having nearly finished 2 years of film school, i wouldn't see the need for them in a ski film besides for a couple exceptions
-There is an acting scene/skit in the film/video
-if you're shooting on film you may want camera reports to keep track of lands/bails. even then you wouldnt be slating so probably not even useful then
-if you're planning a complicated transition/something in post, you may want a shot list but honestly would be fine without
-interviews

I'll usually write out a shot list in the early stages when I'm planning the flow of the edit. I only do it for everything that's not actual skiing to brainstorm how I want to convey the story or interview side of things. I do keep kind of a "shot list" for skiing footage but it's not for any specific project, more just if an idea pops in my head for a certain angle or setup.

You don't need any pen and paper to make a ski edit. If you want to mess with prepro, get artemis pro on your phone and do tests and save those as your boards. Also really useful when used with the Helios Pro app because you can fold sun data into your digital boards which is honestly huge since skiing lives in day ext. As far as shot selection, just bring a few lenses and don't be an idiot about staying on glidecam all day.
