Filmer Fridays

Finally... we think we have it figured out.
Due to the increased demand of Friday Night Fights, we've come up with a "Series" type event to take place once a month for the entire season. Here is the preliminary thought process and i want you all to weigh in with thoughts and comments, and know that this is just our rough draft and we're going to get more fine tuned as we go.
Starting Friday Dec. 18th (providing we're open)4:00pm Riders and filmers meet at Perfect North Slopes for the Event Meeting. At this meeting we will have the filmers, which can be a group of people, or an individual, draw names of the Riders who are present for the event. So if there are 20 riders and 4 filmer groups, then each film group will draw 5 names. These 5 names are the riders that the group will have to film. From 4-6:30 this group of riders and filmers will be able to ride and film anywhere to get good footage. Starting at 6:30p everyone will be gathered at a single predetermined feature that the Park Crew will have shoveled and made Feature Film worthy. This feature will be lit specifically for the "contest" portion of the night. At this point we will have approx. a 2hr rail jam contest. During this contest riders will be judged by a judges panel, and there will be a separate set of prizes for the contestants, all the while each Film group will be gathering footage of their respective competitors.
There will be 4 dates for Filmer Fridays. At each event a new set of Riders will be chosen by each film group present. I.E. if you can't make it to all of the events there is no penalty aside from a simple lack of footage. Riders will be identified in some way as belonging to each film group. Only footage gathered on Filmer Fridays will be allowed. Then Around January 29th a Teaser will be Due from each film group. This teaser will consist of Footage Gathered during the first two Filmer Fridays. The goal is to make it sick and make us want to watch your "movie." Then there will be two more Filmer Fridays, the last of which will be the friday of the Spring Carnival. After the Carnival, Film Groups will have approx. two weeks to edit and assemble their, approx. 3 - 5 min., "Movie." These movies will be shown on the Friday Night before Pink Flamingo Camp, at a free Movie night open to the public. After the movies are turned in the Judging Panel will be allowed at least one week to review the Movies and will decide the winners.
Here are some things we want to happen...
You can film with any type of camera you have at your disposal. If you can get an HD ExCam, do it. If you only have an 8mm camera your mom let you use, that is great too. We don't care about the quality of the video, we only care about the quality of footage and editing. You can use as many cameras as you can get your hands on, as long as someone can shoot with it, and you have permission to shoot with it. Riders don't need to be concerned if they don't have a filmer, one will be assigned and it will be completely random. The Features will be sick. New features will likely be constructed for each event, and the setups should be awesome and look like they belong in a movie. Filmer Fridays happen no matter the weather as long as PNS is open.
This concept just came to us recently, so we're now on the search for some sponsors. We're also trying to get some Camera equipment on the line for prizes. We really want this to be a super fun event where people get to meet people and learn to tricks. THERE WILL BE NO CREWS ALLOWED TO REMAIN INTACT AS CREWS. Each event will get a whole new list of riders and likely filmers, so it is all luck of the draw, we hope this levels the playing field.
So how many film groups will there be? Anyone out there super stoked about this and ready for some sick shots? I'll add a news thing about it when i get more details and sponsors.
Sorry that is a lot, but there is a lot to cover and we have to think about all the angles.

Wow. This sounds sick.

I can't decide if I want to be a rider or a filmer though....

If I want to ride i'ma have to step it up this year

Someone should link this to all the threads wondering why MRM is worse than PNS. I think this sounds like one hell of an idea, and Ill definitely be there as much as I can.

Let me get this straight, if you can only make like 2-3 Fridays, then you just make a movie out of the footage you have? So it would help you to be there all 4 times right?

I dont know if itll be possible cause of time, but I think showing the winning movie at PFC would be sick.

I think there should be no reason to link this to anything involving MRM vs Perfect's. I don't feel this has much to do with being better than MRM; I think it has to do with the people(such as Tad) involved at Perfect's trying to provide a fun and creative way to have some good competition. The rider's have shown interest in having something similar to the previous Friday Night Fights, and this is a way to make it different and have fun still.

ha and you dont think that this is why Perfects is better than MRM?

But who really cares, most of us ski at our local place because its the closest, even IF MRM was better than Perfects, I would still ski at Perfects cause its closer.

oh and by the way.. Perfects is better.

Ha nope.. MRM was sick, because there were so many rails out that if you straight lined down the hill you would run into at least 4-5 rails. You could make 6 hit runs there which is something that you dont normally get at perfects. But there were plenty of things that I didnt like about the place. The first being that the rails must of been for ants, seeing as there werent many rails over 15ft. Plus half of the ones that were over 15ft long, were also over 15ft wide, making them absolutely pointless.

I just wish perfs had more rails than boxes.

Yup, and they've been sick. You can check the teasers on the perfectnorthparks page. Next one is Feb 19th I believe
