What programs do people like to use to edit their movies? I know what's out there, I was just curious as to what people's prefrences are. Also, do you (or whoever the skier is) make your own edits or do you pay/have a friend do it?

im a newbie to the editing, what are good editing programs

adobe premerie can do crazy shit but its not for beginners

Obey the Law of Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication

Final Cut Pro is easy to grab through a P2P app, same with Adobe Premiere.

FOR MAC: Start with Imovie, trust me. it's basic, simple, fun, easy. make a few movies. then go to Final Cut Express for Mac, easy professional, done.

FOR PC: Start with Windows Movie Maker, just do it once. then Adobe Premier or something else. im more familiar with macs, but i've used both.

For the PC world I prefer working with Avid and FCP for the mac world. screw windows movie maker, it would be smarter to start with something that will help you when you are ready to step up. take a look at avid freedv, its free to download and use and is made by a company that works in production business while movie maker is made by M$ who doesnt seem like editing is their focus, so if you are for now going to go the free route, check imovie or avid freedv. if you are going to buy search online for student discounts for the product you are interested in if you are a student of any kind cause you can get huge discounts. if you are going to buy, go with premiere, FCP, or avid.
