Film/Editing Classes at CU?

So I'm officially moving out to Boulder in 7 days to start Freshman year (couldn't be more stoked). I'm saving up for a new camera (around the cost of college and medical bills, so it's slow going) and hopefully will have a GH2 by the time 2nd semester comes around. I'm majoring in Mech. Engineering but have just a small amount of free time in my schedule due to AP classes giving me plenty of credits. I definitely want to take some sort of film class that incorporates editing (I'm way bigger on editing than film, but want to progress in both aspects for sure). I looked through the course catalog and since I'm not a film major, I don't know what I can take/ should take/ am qualified to take. If any of you have any suggestions about some classes I could take that are at my level, just let me know. I'll post 2 of my edits just so you can see about where I'm at.Thanks!

The first one was a simple edit I made with two days of filming this year. I wanted to keep it simple and clean as that's what the skier requested.

The second one was a total mockery of the use of Dubstep in ski edits (hence 'satire') but still am posting it to show you I have somewhat of a grasp on editing, even if it looks ridiculous. Thanks!

I'm gonna be starting my freshman year here next week too. Cant wait to move in.

As of right now I am a business major, but always planned on double majoring in film and business. When I was talking to my film advisor about getting into the major, she was talking about a program for non-majors that is film/digital arts specific, but doesn't add any credit hour requirements to your degree (no extra year/summer classes)

I cannot remember what its called, as I decided to do the double major, but you should definitely talk to a film counselor about your plans and she will tell you about this program, which I strongly considered for a while. It allows you to take classes that are supposed to be only for film majors, and went into a couple different disciplines (web design/animation/digital editing, etc)

Just go talk to a counselor as soon as you get to campus.

Thank you so much. This will help a lot for sure. I'm moving in tomorrow and want to find out some information as soon as possible
