I couldn’t afford an m-a, wanted the new style take up spool and rewind lever, and maybe most importantly, this one had its rangefinder totally rebuilt in 2021.

Ah, okay that's a good one then.

That said, I dont think I'd ever have desire to buy a leica... at least not if I'm not going to have multiple lens options.

I could see myself getting a voightlander Bessa RF though... just so I could run a 40 and a 90mm on a super lightweight body.

Bessa’s are getting up there in price, especially r3 and r4 versions. Great cameras though. A friend had an r4m and that with just the 28 frame line is amazing.

I’m lying if I said there was any way to justify the better rangefinder/experience versus the cost with anything other than I wanted that script logo and all brass construction so I paid more than it’s worth.

Just the one lens for me now, but I’ll maybe get a 50 (haven’t settled on which one or if it will even be m mount). With the summicron 35 I knew exactly what lens I wanted and had ordered that before I even decided to get the camera (it will be used for work eventually on a mirrorless body).

I often took that pair out with my Fed 2... a Jupiter 12 (35 f2.8) and a Jupiter 9 (85 f2) and I loved how much I could manage with just two lenses...

Currently my other camera when I shoot film is a Nikon with a 105 2.5. It would have to be a special lens to displace that. I know nothing about the 75/90/etc stuff available though

and to avoid too much gear talk:



developed a couple rolls of c41. Decided on about 101 degrees and an extra 30 seconds aiming for slightly denser negatives. Ran out of time and didn’t get to print, hopefully this weekend or the next. Probably should wait until I have more contact sheets to make.

I just love collapsible lenses, and the 90 Elmar is sweet. It wont displace your 105 - nothing will because that lens is legendary - but if youre just roaming around with your leica, the 90 collapsible takes up like zero space and gives you another option. its sweet.

- in Developing news... if you need to know the black/white MassDev for Kodak Portra VC 400, its HC110 dilution B for 6 minutes... Accidently threw a roll in there when I was developing all my Tmax 100 shots...

Fuckin somehow didnt look at the label and pulled it out of the can and saw the orange base... god damnit...

The good news is it's perfectly developed and completely usable. The bad news is they would have all looked so much better in that vintage colour...

Ive still never played around with printing colour shots... I'd love to try sometime...

Got some film scanned, mostly from the last year but some I found when I moved that’s way older. Went with just cheap jpg scans because I’m too lazy to tone photos while not on the clock anymore. One bonus frame of what happens when you combine poor short term memory with contrast filters and not sticking to one film stock.
