Fighting with my shop: need advice

both of my local shops are sayin that they wont tweak the stock brakes on my px12s for my addict's 84 waist because it wont pass the release test and then i wont have the insurance from the shop if anything happens. i know tons of people on fujatives and pe's with regular brakes so i know they can do it. they want me to buy a wide break and i dont wanna pay for it at all, but if my bindings pull out of addicts its not like its just easy to move it back (symmetrical and that id have to pay again cause no insurance). what do you guys think i should do?
 
make the long ass drive to another shop and never go to the shitty ones again. they can bend the friggin things it wouldn't affect the release test at all if they bend them right. or tell them to give you wide breaks for free. thats what my shop did they just put wide ones on for free without even mentioning it.
 
i already asked for free wide breaks and they said its fuckin 50 bucks no way they are that much. i dont wanna lose the insurance tho this is so gay

 
alright dude tell them to fuck off that you dont want wide breaks. Then take your shitty skinny breaks home, take a tube of some type preferably a broken ski pole. put the tube over the brake and proceed to bend it wider and your problem will be solved. ps dont goto that shop again and always talk mad smack about the shop whenever you get a chnace.
 
is there anything special i should do when using the ski pole to bend them? on my other skis that i mounted myself (theyre skinnier tho) i just pulled the two brakes apart and it kinda fucked up the inside of the brake and how it fits in and if im gunna be moving it more then i dont wanna be left with no brakes
 
Or you could just buy a rossi scratch 120 which comes with a wide brake for the same price as the look and is the exact same binding

dude will they even need to be bent that much? i didnt have to bend my brakes on my fks 120s to fit on my ar6s. shouldnt they just go on them just fine?
 
Did you buy your set up from the shop? If so, ask them why they wouldn't of set you up with a wide brake in the first place. If not look online for a wide brake and have them put it on, they should give it too you at cost or close.
 
i have an 84 waist on my scratches and i mounted my px12s on there no problem. no bending no wide brakes. they should fit man. theyll be snug but they should make it. if not just bend them or find another shop.
 
the stock brakes are no where near fitting and they are gunna throw on a 90mm brake for 30 now cause i bitched so much. the only reason im even paying that is cause i have two pairs of skis and these ones gotta last me the second half of this season and all of next so i want the insurance on them cause i plan to beat them up pretty good on the way. its aight this is the only time im gunna throw down that money, normally id just mount myself but i dont wanna have these skis fucked up at all. thanks everyone for all the good advice. peace niggas
 
If they wont bend them for you they are morons, and they most likely dont know what they are doing. Take them someplace else. Bending each brake 2mm is something a shop had best be able to do if you gonna trust them with twins.
 
All the shops I go to will bend brakes, but they always warn me that bending your brakes will void your warranty.
 
putting wide breaks on an 84mm wide ski is overkill. You only have to bend them a tiny tiny bit to make them about 4 mm wider, and they would have fit. You really shouldn't have bought the wide brakes but oh well. I hope the wide breaks dont hang over the edge of your ski!
 
sarcasm people, we need a sarcasm button. the point was that his shop sucks and if he can drive a lil more to get to a better one it'd be worthwhile.
 
Or maybe it's because I own a shop and I'm trying to help him find a binding that will work and not have to buy a wide brake, hence spending more money. Perhaps his shop will trade him out for the Rossi version, and don't ever call me a noob. I've been in this business for eleven years.
 
But he's already got the bindings, so your point is irrelevant, the question was if the shop was being legit or total ass-fuckers about a 4mm bend, and they were/are...if I were you I would not give them any further business and take every opportunity to tell everyone you know not to go there.
