"Few words " candide thovex

Just ordered now from Sports Flicks, don't think I've been so excited in anticipation of a ski movie as this one!
 
Bought my copy off sportsflicks.com, worth every penny. Excellent movie! Candide kills it everywhere and it is awesome to reflect on such an incredible career.
 
not only worth the money, this movie should be mandatory to watch for every skier out there.

Just got my copy (it's on sale from any Quiksilver store also FYI). I was kind of astonished to find that when I asked the assistant in the store (in France) whether they had Candide's new movie the dude was like huh? I said, dude are you serious? Candide Thovex, Few Words? YOU WORK FOR QUIKSILVER MAN! SEE THAT PHOTO ON THE WALL OF KELLY SLATER? YEAH, WELL, CANDIDE!

Anyway, just to confirm, Few Words is fucking spectacular.

Anyone worried that there's not enough new footage, worry not. There's loads of new footage which is all fucking rad. But the highlight for me was how well the story of Candide is told. All the big moments are worked through brilliantly. Anybody who had never seen snow could watch this, love it, and understand how epic Candide is. But they manage to avoid making it cheesy.

As a rule, I detest listening to skiers/snowboarders/surfers talking in films. 90% of the time they just sound retarded. There's none of that bullshit here though. Candide has 1 line in the whole movie and everyone else is eloquent and to the point. And the point is that Candide's story and skiing are incredible

The music works great, and it's beautifully filmed. Lots of slowmo but it works well most of the time.

Favorite parts-

-dspin at Chads- that would hold up in any film today. So fucking stylish and crazy.

-Douglas and Dav losing their shit as they try to commentate on his 2003 Xgames pipe run

-the whole of the rest of the movie

Without a doubt this is a must-own dvd. I think getting it on itunes would be a shame. This is the film for sure that I would have if I had to choose 1 ski film for my desert island.

Oh and guys, next time someone makes a thread asking what ski film to show their non skiing friends? Now you have the answer.
 
I didn't really know what to expect when i bought it but i figured it would be OK, maybe a cool movie to add to the collection. Turns out it is probably one of, if not the best, sport films i have seen across any genre. This is simply a must own/watch for anyone who calls themselves a skier or has any appreciation for the concept of freeskiing. I have not really been stoked on most ski movies coming out lately as they are just not that compelling, frequently sacrificing any form narrative for an endless banger reel. This film has both and will make you unbelievably stoked on Candide, as well as skiing in general.

Bottom line, get this movie and enjoy it for many years to come.
 
by far the best ski movie ever made. it even bets travis rices movies by a long shot, i mean it might just be because its skiing but that just shows you how good the editing filming and story line go together. this is a MUST see movie.
 
and Tanner thinks he revolutionised backcountry and park skiing, Candide has come back from worse than him and is still way better at park and BC, and let's not forget older. Way healthier too hahahaha
 
i dont think it "beats" AOF or TITA, i think its a great compliment to snowboarding to round out excellent movies for skiing and snowboarding. Just so happens both are on Quicksilver... hmm
