Fernies boundary policy

hey, does anyone know what fernie's boundary policy is?

i ve skied there several times, and it always seems like its a permanent closure, but the last time i was there, last spring there was a big line of ppl hiking up to polar peak on closing day, so me and my friend hiked up and dropped a chute, it was sick, but would be epic with good pow.

well in case anyone else was curious:

Hello from the mountain,

We basically have three different boundaries/closures.

1: The ski area boundary. These are the signs that go around our ski area.
This area is patrolled and controlled by the mountain staff outside of this
area is not. Exiting the area is at your own risk.

2: Avalanche closures. These are what we call our sign line closures.
These are used to keep public out of avalanche areas and these can open and
close multiple times daily. If the sign is closed or red like a stop sign
it is closed to the public.

3: The third closure that we have is our permanent closure. Exmples of
these areas are the Cedar, Lizard, Currie, Timber head walls and Hell's
Gate. These areas are not to be skied by the public.

I think that the area that is in question here is our permanent closure and
as stated above these areas are closed to the public.

Ski Patrol Director.

Myself and 5 others are making a road trip to 5 interior BC resorts and only have one day planned for Fernie. We love Jackson hole and Snowbird down here in the states so if you have any must ski runs like those areas please let us know.

thanks,

hopefuly you get a pow day. if you do it wont matter if you dont know wher to go cause everything will be epic. fernie is unreal this year. dummppage.

I've actually been pretty disappointed with the avy control unit at Fernie this year.

It seems like they spend more time trying to catch stupid poachers than they do trying to open up terrain. I love the mountain, its snow, and I generally like all the crew that I've met, I just get the feeling that things could be done quicker there.

A resort having some of its major areas closed days after a snowfall chaps my but when I'm paying that much for a ski lift. That crap don't happen out in Whislter....and don't say it does. If the resources aren't there (and that's a legit reason), then I need to know so I can take my hard-earned cash somewhere else.

Actually, all-in-all, RCR has disappointed me big time this year.

Louise has been substandard as well. Its maintenance has been noticably substandard compared to even last year....and I'm not even talking about the fact that we've had less snow this year.
