Fernie Alpine Bowls

I was just wondering what everyone who has been out to Fernie in the past about the bowls and upper mountain during high-snow fall periods. Of course I would rather have deep pow then just be able to ski the high-alpine goods, but I have heard that the high-alpine is closed often for avalanche danger. Anything you think about Fernie would be greatly appreciated, I am heading out to there and to Kicking Horse in December and am really stoked. Thanks, Buffalo6

oook, if i understood your post properly, you want to know about the upper ridge above lizard bowl. That ridge is closed until 4pm everyday. After 4 your can drop in and you're on your own. There are some sick lines up there, some mornings you see crazy runs like this one guy who dropped a 50ft cliff right into a 1000ft no fall straight line. Sick shit. The bowls are pretty good during good snow, though i prefer the ridges in between the bowls like the anaconda glades. There's also Monglia, which is just out of bounds near siberia bowl. That ridge gets mad pow.

yeah the fernie area was amazing. ok maybe i just had a lot of fun at the bar when no one would dance with me sunday night, but im definetly going to go back and ski with the CTC this winter hopefully! HAHA

I find the bowls at fern are closed pretty often. Kicking Horse should be called Kiking ASs cuz that place is gonna RULE this year. plus, theres lots of sluts in golden, in Fernie the dude-to-girl ratio is like 80 to 1. bad news.
