Fear of being afraid

this season i want to get better and go bigger.. but right now, i'm scared i won't go for newer tricks (mostly on jumps). last season i didn't have a big problem with this, but i didn't have as many expectations or whatever as i do this year. am i the only one?

Just take it a day at a time. Remind yourself that you want to progress. Take a few warm up runs, then start trying stuff. I got a crap season last year and didn't learn anything because I didn't wanna bother going through the process of learning a new trick, I just wanted to stomp stuff over and over, even though it was the same thing. Now I have nothing new to stomp next season.

I can't remember who it was... but I was whimping out on trying things that I was entirely capable of trying.
Someone mentioned that every time they go to try something they yell at themselves don't be a fucking pussy.
I have since started doing this and my level of fear of failing has dropped dramatically. I mean... I'm a girl.. so I have one, but it still seems to work pretty well for me.

my best advice is be smart about what you try. If you can actually see the trick in your head and understand the proper way to set the trick then go for it. If you're not confident, i'd practice more on tramps/picturing it in your head before you go for it on snow. Also, just thinking about the trick in your head is an awesome way to learn things. Sometimes i'm lucky enough to have dreams about certain tricks and I wake up totally confident and ready to attempt the trick. It's okay to be scared and confident, but if it just doesn't feel right it prob. won't go over so well. good luck

When trying a new trick, listen to a favorite song, preferably one from a ski movie because for some reason it helps me (mood, see how the trick is done in said edit/segment...etc). For example I've used Smash Sumthin by Redman for my first 45 ft cliff drop (give or take a foot), first k-fed on a rail, first rodeo 5, and first flat 3. Trust me it works.

Prove it.

Also OP, just go over the trick in your head. And drop in without hesitating. Dropping in is the scariest part in my opinion.
