Fear holding me back.

Hey, I've been having something of a problem recently, a few days ago I was feeling really confident in the park, I was working on my 360s, box slides and switch skiing, and making good progress. The next day I went back, and only attempted a 180 off a tiny jump, which I messed up, everything else which I was fine with the day before I chickened out of. I'm getting really frustrated by this point because this keeps happening to me over and over again where my confidence is great one day, and I'm too scared and depressed to do anything decent the next day. Has anybody else had this, and if so, are there any solutions? Thanks.

Yes, it’s always been the worst part about park for me. Gotta learn to chill and be easier on yourself. Getting frustrated will not help. You are not in the X Games. There is nothing on the line. Take a breath and enjoy. Get back to the right headspace. Don’t push it too much. Maybe your body and mind was tired from the previous day. If you’re of age, a drink really helps with getting back into the calm headspace and flowing.

If you get really depressed nothing will matter including your body or mind or fear and you'll just send it.

Not really though I will say when I am feeling down on the hill I actually perform my worst.

You're going to have some off days, that's just how skiing/life is going to be. If the majority of days are off days than something needs to change for sure.

Just really try and listen to your body and don't push things if you aren't feeling them that day. I always like to really warm up and stretch before going on hill. Taking a deep breath and just trying to clear your mind before hitting a feature can help with the fear. Just focus on completing the trick and really get it into your head on what you are about to do before you do it.

Its likely your body and mind are still tired from the previous day. I've experienced this pattern too. Make sure to get good rest, hydrate, and eat well on the nights in between consecutive ski days. If you drink anything caffeinated try cutting back and see if that helps.

Cutting back on coffee to cure a fear, hmmm
