FCP Audio Question

Im using FCP 5 and for some reason my audio doesnt show wave forms.. It is just showing the clip in the timeline with out the waves to show when a song changes volume. How do I fix this? Also my pen tool isnt working in the timeline either?

Sorry I normally dont work with FCP 5 on this computer and it is giving me trouble.. please help.
 
I know on 6 there is an option to show waveforms of the audio, just try to find that, i have no idea where it would be on 5 but on 6 is on the bottom left of the timeline on these 4 boxed that increase in size and have a line through them.
 
On final cut 6, on the bottom left of the timeline there is and arrow pointing to the right and if you click that it gives you a bunch of options and one is waveforms. Should be there for 5 since 5 and 6 are pretty similar I think.
 
yep that worked, thanks guys.. now can anyone tell me why my damn pen tool still isnt working?
