personally, i've got mixed feelings about this guy. i mean his music is insanely smooth and i love his beats, but to me, g's lyricism is almost never compelling or impressive. it just doesn't flow as well in my mind as his instrumentals do.

It's funny, I never pay attention to lyrics. I almost don't even hear them. I hear them as just another instrument. Never even absorb the content of what they're saying.

Which is why G-eazy is on my list. As well as:

Kid Cudi

Lupe Fiasco

Drake

Childish Gambino

Gorilla Zoe

I'm pretty pasty and I'll fuck with some coke hyena.

i mean not all. But as with every hiphop thread, all that gets posted is white kid rap. No chicago trap, no memphis, barely anything hard.

no xwulf, black kray, sgp, nacho, nothing from the south or florida in general.

ns has pretty whack hip hop taste.

I don't know if it's whack, I think a lot of it is just lack of exposure. If you're not seeking out the lesser known stuff you won't find it. I'm no different. I don't put in the time and work to really find stuff. Most of what I listen to that's not more mainstream is because I stumbled upon it by happenstance or I found it by threads like these.

Black Kray is new for me. So now I'm listening to it.

yeaaaahhhh i know im being a bit bitter because its pretty much my biggest passion outside of skiing, but it sure gets annoying seeing kids rep the same over hyped, under performing, semi mainstream artists, when that very staleness is what made me seek out so much of whats underground.

If you were a fan of hip hop from 1990-2003, you know most of the 80 million youtube artists blow cock compared to the thousands with less exposure.

But dumbed down art for the masses is always popular.

NS likes the Michael Bay version of rap music.

this a good kray song to start with tho

Any old NWA

Biggie

Wu-tang

Nas

Classified (good for a local guy here...definitely has a few good tracks)

I can't stand 99% of the garbage I hear on the radio, especially Drake. I used to mainly listen to rap but really got away from it over the last few years cause I found it so bad with the exception of a few good songs. I wouldn't mind putting together a good playlist to ski to this year!

new underground picks up where nas left off.

A lot of my favorites have already been said multiple times in here but I have to add Freddie Gibbs and Sean Price.
