I am just wondering what company and type of wax works best for everyone or if you have found any secrets that you find work. I know where you ski matters as well. I currently have been using Saucer wax which i feel works very well but just seeing what else is out there.

If your ski has a sintered base (rather than extruded), then regularly (after every 7-10 ski days) hot scraping and hot waxing with Swix's BP88 is one of the best things you can do for ensuring your bases are running fast & staying durable.

You can always add the "temperature of the day" on top of that, but for most of us here on NS, the BP88 will be totally sufficient for an all-around wax. It really is awesome.

I use Briko red for everything but slush. Cheap as dirt, works great for 90% of conditions. Lasts alright.

Correct me if I have it wrong but isnt BP88 a prep wax. I use it to just hot scrape the base to "clean" it and prep the base to accept a good wax. I only do that a couple times a season. I use an all temp wax every 3-5 days of skiing or use a specific temp if its spring or real warm. Should i use the prep wax and hot scrape it before every time i wax or 3-4 times a season work?

All a "prep" wax is is a blend of semi-warm waxes designed to open up your base material so that your "wax of the day" can better penetrate your base. But, at the end of the day, it's still a semi-warm wax which means it is a great alternative to a basic universal. It will have additives in it that a basic universal lacks but still be great for a wide variety of temperatures.

I am rather picky with how I like my skis, and for most of my quiver I simply use this stuff. Personally, I apply a fresh coat after every day of skiing but that's just me because I tend to baby my gear. If you were to look at most any WC racer's bases, you would see they have a slight red tint to them because the technicians use this stuff like crazy. The more you can use the better.

The 1980s Toko wax that has sat in my Grandparents garage since they shut down their ski shop is pretty tight. I also have a lifetime supply of the stuff.

my parents had a shop so im kind of in the same situation, except it was an xc shop so its all kick wax lol

Hertel Super Hot Sauce seems to stick around longer than swix, although swix seems to have slightly better performance. I'm lazy about waxing so I prefer the longer lasting Hertel.

Hydrozorb, its from a newer company in the UK but its spectacular. Its still in a sort of R&D phase and a few of the British team are on it now but its one of the new generation of nanotech waxes. Essentially it allows more water to me held by the ski base and therefore the base becomes faster as a gliding surface. Stood on the flat in the lift line even a small wind will blow you sideways on this stuff, you cannot stand still on the bases of your skis unless you are on a totally flat surface with it.
