Favorite guitar solos

Cross Roads no doubt.

Also some crappy hair metal songs have some killer ones that give me the chills.

I wanna rock and kickstart my heart have great ones even though they are hair metal....

There are so many good ones can't choose.

On of my favorites are definitely "Hey You" by Pink Floyd. The solo starts about 2 min in, but for the real feel you should listen from the beginning.

David Gilmour - Comfortably Numb

That song is over played and the worst is THEY CUT THE FUCKING SOLO SHORT. I've called so many radio stations bitching.

If that guitar work doesn't hit you in the feels you have no soul.

Though most of jerrys solos arent true solos, this is probably the tightest jam the dead ever played that didnt get way out there go to space and return.

Personally i like the short tight jams like hard to handle, bertha, early sugar mags over a 40 minute dark star sandwich or pitb that is all over the place. Listen to live versions of here comes sunshine, row jimmy from '77, sugaree, eyes of the world or post hiatus st stephen, etc for a jam style somewhat in the middle of the tight jams and the dark star monsters.

It's not a long solo, but it's one of my favorites. Also my favorite song and one of of my favorite videos.

Paul Gilbert's solos in Scarified and in Technical difficulties (Racer X), any one of John Petreucci's solos (Dream Theater) and Glenn's solo in Painkiller (Judas Priest)

Stevie Ray - Testify

Saw him the last time he played Red Rocks. He started playing this and about 10 seconds into it, he stopped. The rest of the band is kind of looking at him like WTF. He shakes his head, puts his guitar behind his head, and plays this whole song walking up and down the stage with his guitar behind his head. Heads were exploding all over the place.

The intro to Crazy on You by Heart is one of my favorite guitar solos of all time.

The one in Green Grass and High Tides by the Outlaws also gets me going. Especially in the live versions.

Now for a guitar being "shredded", about 5:45 in this video:

and some other fine finger work:

Paul Gilbert's solos in Scarified and in Technical difficulties

Came here to post exactly this. However, I actually prefer the newer, solo/studio versions over the Racer X songs. Paul Gilbert is an animal.

Also, not a huge fan of GnR overall, but the outro to Paradise City always gets me pumped up.

@4:47

Another good pump up song - actual solo starts at 2:30

...and now moving in a different direction

This is much more fun than actually working right now.

so much stevie ray.. it's hard to pick one moment..

i'm gonna say my all time favorite has got to be wes montgomery's take on Dave Brubeck's "in your own sweet way"

Hotel California has a epic guitar solo but also check out Jake Cinninger from the band Umphreys Mcgee he's is fucking seriously badass. The guitar player from the band Twiddle (mihali) is a badass dude as well!

more reggae less metal but my favorite song has an(imo) nice intro rift Slightly Stoopid - Closer to the sun :

fuck so many good ones out there. i came across this one quite recently, despite having listened to dream theater for a while. Its definitely got that technical metal vibe to it, so it might be a bit much for some people. gets me really fuckin goin though.

Comfortably numb solo hits me deep man. David Gilmore is something else. Doesn't get talked about enough for what he did for music. Guitar god he is(yoda voice).
