Favorite Fall Seasonal Beers

I've been browsing and looking for some new fall seasonal beers to try. I tend to like the pumpkin ales more than the octoberfests. So far my favorite is Dogfish Head Punkin Ale. I've been wanting to try Southern Tier's Pumking, but I can't find it locally yet. Right now I'm drinking Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale for the first time. It's sort of a disappointment since I don't really smell or taste the pumpkin or spice notes. It sort of tastes more like a hefeweizen to me. It is pretty refreshing, but not something that I'd really invest in very much.

So when Fall hits, what's the beer that you turn to? Something that signifies the time of year to you. Also please tell if it's only a local micro brew, and where it's made.

Southern Tier's Pumpking is pretty damn good. Best pumpkin I have had was called Shipyard Pumpkin. I believe its from Maine.

I've heard very good things about Southern Tier's Pumking. Do the pumpkin and spice notes take the center stage, or does it take a backseat? I'm really looking for a beer that the pumpkin stands out and doesn't get washed out..

It is certainly a background taste on the Southern Tier. But with that Shipyard it is basically eating a slice of pumpkin pie...

Long Trail Harvest would have to be my favorite. If you dont like Malty brews this is not for you. Its not as heavy as say an IPA but its still got some kick to it.

shipyard pumpkinhead is like eating a slice of punkin pie. flavor's a little intense for me, but 1 or 3 is good,

yeah i really like 1 or 2 shipyards in the fall. Magic hat's odd notion this fall is pretty good. Its not a pumpkin beer but a green apple beer. Cause it is apple pickin season too!

Yeah I really love the odd notion this season, I thought it was better than the hex.

I had Flying Dog's dogtoberfest and it was really good, nice and crisp. I'm slacking on beers most shining season right now, gotta get on that.

Dogfish Head FTW. The shipyard is too wishy washy, the foundation of the beer is no good and it's overly spiced as far as I'm concerned. It pains me to say that, having lived in maine but I just don't really think Shipyard brews a good beer. As far as that region goes, Smuttynose has my vote for best local brews.
