you say elliott smith and explosions in the sky yet you call people hipster for liking noah and the whale...ugh. and i fucking love both elliott smith and explosions, just saying, don't be so hypocritical.

My favorite is Iron Maiden.

never known a person who listens to them, that's sick.

if you haven't seen life cycles you should, they did a segment with In a Sweater Poorly Knit that gives me chills every time

Are you serious? Did you just compare Explosions in the Sky and Elliott Smith to a fad hipster band with no real superior talent or originality? Like Gus said... : take a lap.

no, i did not. and if you will kindly reread my post, you will see that i did not compare them.

i would like to state right now that i do not think that explosions, elliott smith, or noah and the whale are 'hipster.' i think that the fact that most indie/post rock/whatever music these days is labeled hipster simply because 'hipsters' (among others) listen to it is annoying. by that standard, everybody has a little hipster in them. i know plenty of people who listen to any one of those three bands that, aside from listening to those groups, are in no way 'hipsters.'

as i said, many hipsters (not even an actual type of person in my opinion) listen to explosions and elliott smith. so if you were going to start criticizing noah and the whale for being hipster (why? for dressing nicely, and the fact that 'hipsters' listen to them?), then i was going to turn that around and say maybe since you like explosions and elliott smith, you are a little hipster too. does it make sense? no. but neither did your argument in the first place, and i was just trying to point out that it's stupid to criticize a band just by calling them hipster. that's not why you don't like them; you don't like them because, well, you just don't like their music.

clearly explosions (one of my all time favorite bands, if you will look at my videos i have used them numerous times) and elliott smith are far superior to noah and the whale, i fully agree with you there (although i do think noah and the whale has some very original and awesome material, like the song i posted). but it just seems stupid to call noah and the whale hipster simply because you don't like them and hipsters listen to them, while at the same time saying you love explosions and elliott smith, both artists that hipsters listen to as well. see what i'm saying?

and i like gus much more as an NS member than a mod, so i dont really care.

oh boy, you must REALLY hate the person who posted below you lol.

and to that person, i like your taste in music for the most part.
