Fatypus Alottas

Anyone seen them, heard of them or know someone with them. Sorry this isnt about Full tilts, crowbars, noobs, boot fitting or binding issues.

From what I know, they are a sweet mega-fat pow ski. Check out Faty-pus' website and read about them and Search them on this website on the Google toolbar. You'll probably find some stuff there. Good luck!

i think i am in love with these skis. graphics coudlnt be worse, but that is just a front to keep the masses off the best pow ski ever made...

I got the A-Lotta FatYpus Lady 1,70m 2 weeks ago.

Since then no snow in Feb. Very dry in the east right now. Also rain last week. So I'll wait to sent comments about them.

Dont be afraid to bring them up in less than epic conditions, in everything but pure ice they are really fun, they do take a little getting used to though.

I'm just afraid of rain!

I already have SUMO Volkl for everyday well almost everyday skiing. Anyway these lady model are softer than the other one (green and orange). The shorter length is a must to ski tight woods like in the East. It like a ticket for paradise into the woods much more trees than glades.

Forecast weather for Thursday is 6-8 inches of snow. So the love parade with Alotta is comin'

It looks that you're hungry (as I am too!) to know how they go in deep pow. Expected a 24 hours delay if snowstorm comes just a little bit slower than expected. 2 inches tonight is not enough. 6 inches more daily on Thursday is much more interesting. Just wait and see.

Volkl Sumo are 125mm in the middle. It was a great start-up. Next step is 140mm. Now I will sit on top of the World! The old people at Mont-Sainte-Anne won't make it easy. Jalousy I mean.

This morning only 4 inches on the ground but still snowing. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Fat skis are a love affair since 1997. It starts with Volant Chubb. Going oversize was just a way to live free everywhere inbounds in ski areas in the East. First years it was a battle against salers to get fat skis: " Not for you. Not for the Eastern skiing. Just for pow days and for the West" and so on. Now there is no more arguments from skishops. Online shopping for best price! Now I can't ski without fats under 110mm. Katana Volkl are my baseline skis for moguls and packed skis as Hellbent K2. Sumo most of the time for 1 inche and more.

There is also the big air World Cup for snowboard in town. They asked expert skiers to help packing snow on the ramp and the jump. It might be useful to take them there, sliding on 40 degrees ramp.

Well i will pray to the snow gods for you, also heads up on traverse lines if you are not first, things are a little tricky beacause these monsters dont quite fit in "all the others" footprint. Again dont be afraid to take them up in less than steller conditions, I have been riding on groomers for the past two weeks and they are a blast.

Last Friday at Le Massif-Charlevoix near Quebec City: 16 inches of fresh. The best pow day you want. The perfect day to use my new quiver first time: A-Lotta. Perfect into the tight woods. Single I didn"t get any pictures in the white room.

No complain at all except that I miss another pow day today in many ski areas in Eastern Townships or Jay Peak (22 inches!). I have to work (and sleep) sometime! These skis are sweet (light blue skis is part of the story) into the woods and these fats going so fast that ski patrol can't catch you (fiction boys not reality).

Next time I'll try to get some pics in action with A-Lotta for my new "fan club". But gaining karma point is not part of the challenge. Since the 2010 fulltilt experience on sale&trade, I know what is all about...

I am glad you like them I will try to get some pics of mine in acton as well. Have you tried riding them switch yet, they are so fricken stable it is unreal!

What length do you ride?

Model of this year in green and orange? Or last year trucker design? The yellow one if I remember well? Or many years ago the blue one (first gen)? It was a long-term dream to buy these huge sticks you know. I thought there were too fat. And it's very strange to think that from me.

By the way there are A-Lotta skis 1,80m for sale on TGR. It's like a cult skis to buy like it was with Drake/Bonnay aka DB for a Tabla Rasa carbon core in 2006. One I bought on the process for the ultime goal of this year. Spatula Volant were the nightmare. I did one run and never try again...I have to sale these but expecting too much trouble.

Im on the 180 alottas last years, green and orange with monster trucks. I picked them up this summer off their web site clearance for $350! Best purchase ever! this years model is mostly green with fatypus logos all over.

350$. Lucky one! That's a nice price! The FatYpus at TGR for 350$ used were sold Yesterday very fast.

Mine cost 925$ US including shipping. Then sale taxes in Canada. So the final price was 1125+150=1275$Can. Very expensive. That's why I wait so long to get them. Another trip to forget in the wild West.

It might be nic to post pic of all generations of A-Lotta from the beginning. I'll check what I have.

Sorry for a second post in a row. We can't edit on this forum, isn't?

Just saw great discount on fatypus website. All powder skis at 650$!! That's awesome!

First years: the black one.

hen the blue 2 tones

The trucker years (2007, 2008)

And the orange/green of this year. The lady model is already known.

Yep those are mine, the trucker ones. Well looks like we got 8-12 in last night and 6-8 more tonight so I am going to skip a staff meeting and hit the hill up tomorrow. Ill let you all know how it is. Dam its good to live in north idaho!

Well I made it up the past two days and i have one word...epic. The main chair for the mountain was broke so they brought in a snow cat with ropes on the back to tow us up all day. 36+ in fresh untracked pow all to a select few. I can say that I havent crossed tracks in two days! The alottas were unreal, super smooth and so much flotation that they alowed me to get places no one else could go. Ill get a few pics up this week.

The black one was produced by FatYpus in 2006.

Well what about your promises: the puics. expecting to see these before International Women Days (March 8 if you don't remember).

Here my last ride at Le Massif. Hard pack so it was K2 Hellbent at work!

how the fuck do you have so many awesome skis?
fatypus is made in the icelantic factory right?

Icelantic skis are made by Never Summer Industries Colorado blvd in Denver who also built skateboard and longboards.

The sale address for FatYpus is in Beckenbridge (Colorado).

It looks that the answer is no.

Both in Colorado anyway.

I know I know the pics, havent had time yet. It keeps snowing up here, another 12-16in expected for this weekend. Next down time I get ill put them up...Buy the way rad wheelie!

NIIIIICCCEEEEE!

Great pics and perfect timing too!

Some jealousy for sure.

O I wish to get one of these pow days soon.

Now it's more corn snow and spring fever.

But wait maybe some snow mid-week.

I want to make some visual of my A-Lotta at work.

Fever is making a coming back!!!

Going Northern of Quebec next sat, more snow there.

I just had 24hrs of bottumless pow, it was sick. I needed some megafats but the my bibbys did work fun fun fun

I don't know "the" reason

But I can figure out many reasons!!!

Now the ladies can improve and follow their friends in pow! Best or worst? I don't know!!

are you trying to tell me that the katanas are ur mogul skis, hellbents ur hardpack skis and the sumos ur pow skis? i have sumos and hellbents and ever since i bought the bents ive never skied my sumos.
