How much force does it need to tear an acl?

How long is the recouperation period after a surgery and how well does such a wound heal?

How many times can you theoretically tear an ACL and still be able to ski after appropriate surgery and therapy?

How much is the cost for surgery?

How do you know you have torn your acl?

If the acl is not torn but overstretched could you have surgery and is this reposnisble to do ?

Are there kneebraces that stabilize the knee so to somewhat prevent the twisting and thus the tearing of an acl?

Is it possible not to ask such silly questions about topics upon which much information is already widley available.

How long does its take after a torn Acl surgery that you can start to do sports again?

How long until you are practically back to full throttel physically?

Sincerely

Yours Useless

Many of those questions are all dependant on far too many variables to give a straight answer on.

writing a paper? hahah, alot of that info can be found in like 10 minutes on google, on MEDICAL sites.

however, as of the surgery/recoup tiimes, i personally had an allograph (cadaver hamstring). my surgery went awesome, i was on crutches for 4 days, and i was putting weight on it the day after surgery. my surgery scars are minimal, just a couple little dots from the screw holes, and a 2 inch incision. my total recovery time to 100% was 7 months (im 8 months out now), but ive been skateboarding and shit for the past 3. the number one reason my recoup went so well, is road biking. i usually rode 100-300 miles a week over the summer, and it was awesome for building my quads back up and getting the muscle support back that is crucial after a surgery like that. my knee now feels awesome, the only issues i still have, are that my ACL is alot tighter, and i still dont have quite the flexation (i can fold my right heel up to my ass, my left, about 6-7 inches from it. also, since i tore my miniscus along with my ACL, it sometimes grinds if i flex my knee wierd. with a brace on (like for skiing), it isnt an issue.

Do you plan on wearing a knee bracing skiing for an extended period of time? The only reason i ask is because when people wear knee braces all the time after an injury like that it can weaken the knee because it doesnt have to do the work or holding everything in place. Obviously wearing one isnt a bad idea for some period of time, just curious if you plan to get away from it at some point or maybe use a knee brace that might not be so aggressive. It sounds like your recovery went well and biking like that will work wonders when you go back to the hill. I do alot of one legged squats with my eyes closed on bosu balls, which has probably one of the only reasons I haven't blown a knee yet.
