it's like really really good pop punk that you can't help but like - basically the catchiest band alive. I wrote them off but give them a chance, they're just fun to listen to. Plus the way they got their name is funny - they asked a crowd at a hometown show what they should name themselves and some kid yelled out "Fall Out Boy!" from the Simpsons and it stuck.

yes they did. and in michigan they played 3 songs, but the stage fell apart so they were done. oh well when you see them live theyre sick and make up for it. pete usually will climb something. joe has the best stage moves and spins around with his guitar until its hard to watch him without throwing up. pat stays pretty calm, but he cant do to much because hes singing. andy is cool in person, but not so much on stage. i mean like, hes just a standard drummer basiclly. dosent like stand up or anything, but really no drummers do. seriously pete is the nicest guy in real life. out of all of them. actualy pat's really funny. he jokes around a lot. like with pete and such. GET TICKETS!

they play clutch cargos tons. also warped tour and if you can take the drive-chicago. seriously its not hard to meet the guys after a show. they are one of the few bands who are in love with their fans and appreciate you and will actually carry on a conversation with you if you're not some hysterical girl yelling how hot pete is or something.

they are good melodic pop punk i guess. i actually find that they have some pretty good hooks like the vocal solo in Chicago.

well if you read what i said in a rage, you could find an answer. concerts will now be PACKED, the venus MAY change, it depends on if they switch to a huge label. and there probablly will be alot of younger kids now at these concerts. since they will be mobbed by fans, it wont be the same. i wont get to converse with them like i have the last 3 times.

in an interview, they talk about how they hate the fans that are just like "omg your so hot" and stuff. the "boy band-esque" appeal is what they will get. as opposed to the kids that went to their shows like before all this happened and really were interested in what the band was doing musically. its going to be different, its un-avoidable, but i for some reason am holding on to the hope that they will keep to small venus or pull a nirvana and play both in moderation. i hope they dont get greedy. they arent the type to.

That's what happens when bands get more popular. It's a bummer that you can't talk to them face to face anymore, but career wise, I'm sure it's better for the band. More publicity, more record sales, bigger venues, etc.

well its not actually emo really. its like- and im sad to say it- pop punk almost. but the lyrics are good. i dont know. i just cant stop to like it. if any of you guys want to "meet the band" its super easy to, as i said in my other paragraphs, so you might want to do that before they're going to start needing security and shit. they are seriously such cool guys.

yes they are pop punk. dont act like you are "better than the rest" because you listen to the bands like the clash, ramones, and sex pistols. i have the original vynils from most of these bands, and listen to them constantly. look up the "is punk dead" or something thread. i posted paragraphs. no matter what: its pop punk. popular punk music. that is the accepted catagory and name for these bands by those who arent whiny teenagers that think their ideas overrule a commonly accepted name. its just ignorent to say that "they dont deserve it" because they are popular with some younger kids.

im not trying to act like "im better than the rest" because i enjoy listening to punk, and if you consider lagwagon and pennywise pop/punk, then i still enjoy listening to them, i just dont personally categorize fall out boy as punk

 
the reason i dont categorize fall out boy as punk is because i believe in what members of pennywise, and bands like 2 cents say concerning being a punk band, or the punk band dream. One of the ideas of being a punk band, or staying punk is by not selling out to mtv, and it was said above that they have been on trl.

so they can be seen. to gain interest. your bands that are " punk" made videos, but they werent picked up. i gurantee both of them would "sell out to TRL" in a heartbeat. you think lagwagon doesnt "sell out". well they made merch didnt they?

fall out boy loves the fans that love their music. joe doesnt give 2 shits what you call it. but it has been named pop punk for a reason. anything with a crunchy guitar and a fast pace now a days has decended and evolved from the influential punk bands of the late 70's. so im saying that if the band has that influence in their style, then why wouldnt they be classified? isnt that how classification work. lagwagon are on MTV.com. i bet that if you would have heard fall out boy like a year ago, you would have loved them and not have been such a little bitch about this. "ewww they're on TRL! they dont deserve a classification with the word punk in it". well pennywise is "pop punk/ punk/ power pop", but since they never really made it, they are somehow anti establishment and "punk"? it wasnt their choice. they just never got famous and i bet would kill to have the quick success that FOB is having. i doubt you actually are really "anti establishment" and really have any knowladge to back up the things you say. you are probably sitting at a nice computer that you dad got for you for your birthday.

saying fall out boy isnt pop punk because they recently made it as a band really makes alot of sense. the word "pop" happens to be short for "popular" which they are. and like it or not, the power chords and loud screaming vocals, along with everything else they do to seperate themselves from generic butt rock or other music styles IS the form of music called punk.

you cant change the type of music a band plays because of how successful they are.

ITS EMO. I saw them today at the warped tour, and wasnt very impressed, allright but not original. All the crazy punks there were raving about them though

ya but listen to the lyrics "i wrap a locket around your throat i weigh you down i watch you choke, you look so good in blue" and "the way your makeup stains my pillowcase ill never be the same" sounds pretty emo but it is more punk music than say dashboard. so depends if you classify the genre by the tempo, lyrics, or just popular opinion. but i really liked relient k they were the same pop punk sound, but diffrent lyrics because they are a christian band. they were also on the warp to and now they have a video and are on mtv just like FOB
