Faction Thovex 1.0 Poplar

Thinking about getting a pair of these, has anyone on here used these and can confirm that they are more durable then the regular 1.0's?

The poplar ones are fine, it was the balsa/ flax core in the 'superlight' versions that had breakage problems. Poplar cores are very popular across all the brands and so will be durable.

A friend broke his superlights though and faction replaced them instantly with a set with poplar cores. You really can't go wrong with faction, solid consumer service, solid skis.

Are these what Delorome skis on?

Faction had some issues with the durability of their 13/14 1.0's. The 14/15 1.0 is a totally different ski. They made it symmetrical, 90 underfoot, and added slight rocker. Then they put in poplar construction and added 2.5x2.5 mm edges, making it really durable. This ski will hold up very well for you.

The 1.0 for next year is a bomber ski. I'm riding the 2.0s at the moment (also what Delorme rides for whoever asked) and they extremely well made. The 1.0 has thicker edges and bases and will last you as long as any ski on the market.

so not sure on which ski to get then , does anyone know about the weight difference between 14's and 15's candide 1.0's?

The '14 ski had a superlight core, no rocker, dimensions of 114-82-110 and was based off the Kennedy shape. If you want the '14 shape with a poplar core, you could get the Faction Kennedy.

The '15 ski has a poplar/ash core, 10/150mm tip rocker and 5/100mm tail rocker along with dimensions 120-90-120.

Personally I much prefer the '15 model.

still, should the problems of the candide 1.0's gone with the poplar version? They seem like a good deal for me for 299€ if they are kinda durable. Also could someone give me a link to 2015's kennedy's

Yes the 1.0 '14 poplar version was a limited run and fixed the problem, I totally forgot they existed it was such a limited run. I would go for them over the 2015 Kennedy for a better quality base and sidewall construction.
