Anyone skied these skis much? A friend of mine loves the Royale and says it slays everything. how do these skis compare to other powder skis with similar dimensions? I dont think the royale or 3.0 have any early taper in the tips or tails, does this effect the powder performance that much? Im jsut trying to get some info or reviews, cant seem to find too much out there on them from people who have actually riden and wrote reviews. Thanks everyone!

I have owned both the 194 Thirteen and 191 3.Zero. Both were very big skis. You must wear your big-boy pants to run around on either of them.

The 3.Zero is a rocker/camber/rocker ski. No early taper, and not a lot of early rise. Stiff. They are tanks. They only have two speeds. Fast, and go faster. In comparison, my 190 Ninthward Greener Pros seemed almost playful.

I blew up my knee on the Thirteens.

Thanks! I knew they were on the stiffer side but it souds like they are pretty stiff. Is the Royale as Stiff at the 3.0 since it's marketed as a Freestyle ski with lots of rocker do you know?

Hey - you might not want to hear form us directly as obviously going to be a bit biased with them being our skis, but doesn't seem anyone is gable to give you a response. So The Royale - my personal favorite from our line up. Skis everything great float in Powder, it is much stiffer under foot than most skis of a similar shape which means you don't get that "Chattering" when you are going fast and the conditions are variable. Solid through most conditions, so although it is a big ski it is really easy, I have friends who ski this from girls who are 5ft 5 to guys who are 6ft 6 and everyone enjoys it. IT has long Rocker in the tip and tail which makes it really easy to maneuver and really fun in trees. Hope that helps...

The Royale is not quite as stiff as the 3.Zero. But it's also a flat cambered ski with a fair amount more rocker in the tip/tails, so it will be a lot more playful.

I've been looking at the 190 Royale for a while now.

This is awesome thanks! I was a little concerned about the flat camber because this would be a daily driver for me. I need a skis that can hadle itself on groomers (with the wife) but I really need a ski that I can take in the deep pow. Would this be a good ski for some side country or big mountain skiing? Also Is there a difference in the 10'/11' and the current years??? Kinda on a tight budget.

Had the Royale out for a few days back along, they were awesome to ski and they looked sock as well. Im just about to get a pair of 3.Zeros, but im undecided on what length to go for, the 183cm or the 191?? Im 175 cm and 75kg skiing for a long time, i have a park skis, an all mountain tour set up and a fat as hell powder ski, the 3.Zero would be for the days when there is chop/ not quite perfect pow days......any help?

Depends on how strong you are. I know a guy smaller than you that skis 194XXLs every day.

I would recommend the 183 for you, but if you think you can handle it, I'm selling my 191s for pretty cheap.

PM me for more info.

I've ridden the Royales for the last 2 years, both the 183 and and 191 versions. They are an incredibly versatile ski for everything from deep days to chopped up powder and groomers back to the lift. That said, I don't think they'd be an end all one ski quiver. Slower speeds on groomers would be annoying not being able to really roll them much, though once you get a little speed they hold a solid edge on hardpack considering their size.

While I haven't ridden the 3.Zero, I actually use the Prodigy as my daily driver and they perform extremely well in all kinds of conditions. As the 3.Zero is the in between of these 2, I'd think it would be a pretty solid choice.

I understand that no fat ski is going to be ideal on the groomers... But like I said I just need to be able to cruise around with my wife. She doesnt go slow, just likes to stick to the groomed runs. Would this be a good ski to throw on a pair of Marker Barons? I dont expect to be going on long touring trips, probably just a handful of times in the season. Anyone know if the design is the same from 11' to the 13' or have there been changes???

I've spent about a season and a half on the royales, 20 ish days on the 3.Zeros, and I'm pretty much just going to agree with everything thats been said here. Although in my mind, they are definitely 2 completely different skis.

The royale, although far more versatile than others in the catagory, still skis like a very freestyle oriented ski. In fresh snow, it likes to play around and jump off things. As long as the snow is soft, it can hold its own at speed. When you get into harder crud I found it does bounce around as the tips are still fairly soft despite the stiffer midsection. You can get around on groomers just fine (one of the awesome things about still having a full sidecut) but it doesn't have the hold of a cambered ski.

The 3.Zero, like said above, is fast. The only place I had issues was low speed low incline fresh. Just not enough width/rocker to keep you up when going slow. Easy solution, go fast, ski less flat shit. At speed and/or steeper terrain, no float issues whatsoever. Way better in crud too, as expected (camber, less rocker, decently long running length, again a full sidecut). Feels more like a traditional ski on groomers.

The best way to describe the two skis is that the royale gives you that surfy, bouncy feel while the 3.zero skis more like a traditional ski when not in fresh snow. When I bought the royales originally, I was all "yeah I'm gonna do so many switch landings in pow and 180 all these cliffs BRAH". Now what I'm looking for in a ski has changed. Why ski pow switch when you can ski it forwards and go faster. Why bounce around when I can just straight line it. Now I'm actually on 196 renegades since they work better for me. It came down to those and thirteens, just a better deal on the rens. If I had to make the decision between royales and 3zeros again I would go 3zero.

Sorry for dp, as far as I know there have been no changes in the royale aside from adding a 190 length. Shameless plug, I've got my set of 10/11 183 Royales in my garage if you want em cheap.

This is really helpful. I do want a more playful ski, just one that can hold it's own on the groomers a little better than some other in that same catagory. I am looking at some other skis, but the Royale does look like a prime option. Im definitally going to have to demo them this winter. I actually like popping off things in the crud. This was a huge help thanks!

note the 191 3 Zero has diferant dimentions than the shorter ones. The 142-112-132 is 183 down. The 191 has the same dims as the 13 almost . 136 112 126. The flex on the zero 191 is noticably stiffer than the 183. Mine are 183,s because I wanted a more playfull charger.
