Faction Dictator 3.0 Mount Point

I'm a bit confused or unsure where to mount the bindings on the Faction Dictator 3.0.

Recommended is on -11 and that's super far back. My Moms race skis are mounted on -14 and have a flat tail.

A friend of mine, who has the rossignol sender tis which have a similar rocker profile, mounted his ski on -5.

I was thinking about going either -5 or -6.

Since I want to use them everywhere on the mountain but the park. Not going to do big tricks on them, only flips and small spins.

I feel like Factions mount points are always so far back. For example the Prodigy 4.0s are at -9 and I mounted them on -3.

measure sidecut radius, it will tell you if you can move it more forward

dictators are made to be driven & go fast, you want more frontski on a ski like that, hence the more rearward mountpoint

also, yay to your mom for having race skis

Perfect thank you!

I appreciate your help.

What do you mean with measuring the sidecut radius? I know how what the radius is, but how do I know how much I can move them forward?

grab a pair of digital calipers, measure where the ski is the narrowest, and where it becomes wider, measure every 1cm, I would measure from 1cm behind mountpoint, all the way to center of ski

give us numbers, and we can give some internet advice.

did you get 2022 or 2021?

good, heard they improved Quality

its a ski made to be used at mach1, guess you have seen FWT? thats the ski they use ;)

Yes, Apoll is on the dictator 4.0s and I think Elisabeth Gerritzen is on the 3.0x.

Yeah, I heard they changed factorys or sth.

Every ski will have a min width/Center of sidecut that is usually at that min width for a bit. On the 21 or 22 Factions, it usually goes down to that min width a bit before their CT/Newschool mark and stays fairly constant to just after their -3cm back Traditional mark.

So the Prodigy/Dictators are marked near the back end of their min sidecut and you move forward depending on preference and use and the CT line was marked near the start of the min sidecut and you move back if you wanted something more traditional.

So it wouldn't be an issue if I go -5cm or -6cm, since I'm coming from either center mounted and -3cm and used to be on race skis?

Depends on the ski as every ski has a different “range length/sweet spot” and a different sidecut Center. Most freestyle/freeride skis you can move at least -2/plus 2cm from it actually middle of sidecut without issue.

So I got some measurements, idk if these are the right ones tho.

Ski length: 188mm

134 -106-124

TC at 94cm

Rec at 11cm

106mm from TC -27cm and +3cm

Widest point (tip) at 19cm measured from the tip

Widest point (tail) at 173cm also measured from the tip

And I did some research:

Elisabeth Gerritzen mounts them +1.5 from rec

Sam Antmahatten goes with +3 from rec

And Andre Pollard goes -5cm from center on both the 3.0s and 4.0s

not the right ones, measure from reccomended mount point and towards true center with digital calipers

You mean the width? It's 106 all the way till 14cm infront of the rec mount point.

dont belive you dude ;)

show some pics of digital caliper pics with 106,00 all the places :D

I don't have digital calipers so I measured them with a tape measure. But I'm pretty sure that it's 106mm

You need a digital calliper with a couple decimal points as it changes VERY slowly up and down the ski.

The sidecut Center would stay around the min 105.50mm width between the factory Traditional mark to Newschool/CT marks(3 cm range) and would start to slightly start getting wider a cm or so forward of the Newschool/CT mark and the same distance back from the Traditional mark.

So the “Progressive” mark on current Faction skis is usually the middle of their minimum sidecut range.

Companies like Moment mark this “middle of the range” instead and then you move forward or back from there if desired.
